Udupi : BJP staged protest against the CMC Commissioner, D. Manjunathaiah under its ‘CMC Commissioner Hatao’ programme by holding a procession from City BJP office at Kadiyali to CMC by foot, Udupi on Friday, 6^th October, 2017.

The protesters demanded the ouster of D Manjunathaiah from the Udupi CMC and make deputation back to his parent education department.

Speaking to protesters Raghupathy Bhat former MLA said that BJP protesting in two main demands that Manjunathaih lacks technical knowledge required for the post as commissioner of City Municipality and other that he is most corrupt one official in the history of Udupi Municipality council. He said that Majunathaiah belongs to the education department and he never knowledge in municipal council. The cabinet minister Tanveer Sait said that all the officials of education department should come back to the parent department. He requested the minister Tanveer Sait to depute him from Udupi Municipality to education department at the earliest. Tanweer Sait had issued orders to get back officers from his department. He said that Manjunathiah was responsible to remove pandal set up by BJP for holding protest against sand mafia during the period the leaders went away to present an appeal to the deputy commissioner.

 He also said that there has been corruption in all department prevailed in the city municipality even for issuance of  birth and death certificates. He urged Pramod Madhwaraj MLA and district in charge minister to immediately remove D Manjunathiah from the post, failing which strong protest will be launched. If the district in charge minister so wants, he can appoint Manjunathaih as his personal secretary, he said.

Mattar Rathnakar Hegde District BJP President said that there was record that Munjunathaih was most corrupt official in the past. Even Manjunathaih does not have technical knowledge needed to function as Municipal Commissioner that he was served in education department. He led corruption in the CMC and if he continues to function here in CMC, no doubt that corruption will increase. BJP will not tolerate his corrupt functioning, if he continues as commissioner, severe protest will launched soon.

Earlier the procession started from BJP office in Kadiyali here to the CMC building by foot with slogans and a picture of CMC councilor mounted on a vehicle with a garland of footwear around it and bier accompanied by scented sticks placed in the shell of tender coconut, with a while cloth covered over the bier, a procedure followed during Hindu funeral procession.

The procession reaches to the CMC building, police placed barricades just in front of entrance of CMC building and stopped the procession. After the speeches over, Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje President of Udupi CMC came there to receive the memorandum. Rathnakar Hegde and Raghupathy Bhat BJP leaders handed over memorandum to the President of CMC to send government through DC.

During the protest speeches, one lady shouted slogans against the BJP and made interruption, but police taken her inside the CMC building. The female called Usha Naik, wife of late Sathish Naik was upset in regard to the BJP.

Earlier BJP activists have started a post card movement under which signed postcards are sent to education minister, Tanveer Sait and Principal Secretary in the department.

Yashpal Suvarna CMC Councillor and Vice President of District BJP, Shreesha Nayak Yuva Morcha President, Kuilady Suresh Nayak and Kuthyar Naveen Shetty, Geethanjali Suvarna, Akshath Shetty, Shymala Kunder, Veena, Nayana Ganesh, Sulochana Bhat and other elected representatives and members of BJP were participated during the protest.
