Udupi : District Administration, Zilla Panchayat Udupi district, Department of Agriculture & Horticulture, Udupi, in collaboration with Regional Organic Farmers Groups Federation ®, Mangaluru for the first time in Udupi district inaugurated “Savayava Santhe” Organic Market at Farmer Service Center, Doddanagudde, Shivalli Horticulture Farm Udupi on Sunday, 15^th October, 2017.

The program began with state anthem. Devadas Hebbar Director, Organic Farmers Divisional Okkoota, Mangaluru welcomed the gathering.

Pramod Madhwaraj, District in Charge Minister inaugurated the Savayava Santhe by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries on the dais.

In his inaugural address, Pramod Madhwaraj said that this day should write in golden words that for the first time in Udupi district organic market opened for healthy and peaceful life. Those who are looking for good health and those who are long time looking for hospital for various diseases, for them it is answer to consume organic produced vegetables. Organic produced vegetables and eatables are free of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and other which good for health. The consuming chemical fertilizers, pesticides food one of the causes of cancer and also dearer to go Hospital, he said.

Meanwhile comparatively, the fertilizing produced green vegetables much costlier than organic produced green vegetables when we go for the market to purchase due to middlemen. But in organic market, the consumers can purchase vegetables directly from registered organic farmers to consumers why the consumers can get cheaper rates, he said.

On the occasion Priyanka Mary Francis said that earlier this place was allotted to sell flowers. But due to poor response, the district administration has gone for the establishment of organic products which directly purchase from the producers by the consumers of fresh vegetables. On the first day of this plan of the district administration succeeded to attract very large consumers and hence within two hour around two tones of fresh vegetables sold out. The public very much knew that the organic produced vegetables are safer and healthy.

Sheela K. Shetty Vice President of Zilla Panchayat pointed out the advantages of organic produced vegetables and impact of fertilizers and feticides used vegetables and fruits. Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje CMC President also spoke on the occasion.

Every Sunday starting from 15^th October, 2017, from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm at the Farmer Service Center, Doddanagudde, Shivalli Horticulture Farm, Udupi. The Products available at Organic market : Organic Rice – Rajamudi, Kempakki, Sannavalli, Sona, Kuchchalakki and other products AValakki, pulses, Organic Jaggery, Organic Sugar, Honey, Dry Fruits. Vegetables – Tomato, Bende, Tonde, Hire, Gulla Badane, Beans, Sambar cucumber, Basale, Green Chilli, Root vegetables, varieties of green leafy vegetables. Fruits – Sapota, Hebbalasu, Banana, Putt bale, Rasa bale, Lemon, Pomegranate. Spices – Onion, Garlic, Small Green Chilli, Pepper, Ginger, Turmeric, Clove, Cardamom, Cinnamon.
