National level Best Teacher Award winner dies in tragic accident

Print Udupi : The Best Teacher National Award Winner in 2003 and former Headmaster of Belle Church Higher Primary School, Moodubelle Peter Raphael Aranha passed away on Tuesday, 17th October, 2017 following a tragic accident at Udupi.
He was on his way to Baliga Hospital, Doddanagudde, at near the MGM College on his two wheeler while taking a turn from the road, AKMS bus hit him and he collapsed on the road. Injured Raphael master was rushed to hospital immediately. But he breathed his last after few hours due to severe head injuries.
Born on 8th October, 1952, popularly known as Raphael Aranha master was on among three sons and four daughters. He was married in 1977 to Leena Sequeira of Kattingeri also a teacher have two children.
Recognizing the qualities of Raphael Master as an effective teacher and good administrator as the Head Master of the primary school at Moodubelle, accolades and awards were conferred on him. He was chosen as one of the Best Teacher at the district level in 1998. In 2001 Raphael Master was awarded the Best Teacher at the Karnataka State level and in 2002 he was conferred with the highest teacher’s award in India as the Best Teacher National Award. This award was conferred on him by President of India A P J Abdul Kalam.
Even though he was busy with teaching, he was the founder president of Moodubelle unit of the Catholic Youth Movement. He was an active member of St Vincent de Paul society from its inception in 1978 and also the president of Moodubelle SSVP Conference. He was the Vice President of SSVP Central Council, Mangalore Diocese and also he was Vice President of Udupi Area Council. He was one of the members of the Ozanam Home for the aged at Kallianpur which is run by the St Vincent de Paul Society.
He also very active in Rotary International, Manipur unit and was President of Rotary Club, Manipur near Moodubelle.
