Udupi : Discussion was held with Deputy Commissioner in relate to action on illegal Matka business in the district. The main kingpin of the Matka business, Leo Cornelio absconding and anyone who give information of whereabouts of Leo Cornelio will be awarded, said Dr. Sanjeev M Patil, Superintendent of Police, Udupi district.

He was speaking with media persons during the phone – in programme on Saturday, 21^st October, 2017, said that 139 cases registered and 142 people were arrested in relate to Matka business. With the effect of phone in programme, in relate to Matka business 3 cases registered and 3 persons arrested during the last week. 2 persons arrested for illegal drug consumption and 4 persons were arrested in illegal gambling. 99 COTPA acts, 29 driving with alcohol, 138 cases of shrill horn users and 905 without helmet bikes riding cases were registered.

One caller said that only two toll gates were opened in Padubidri Toll Gate in the morning hours.SP said that already in regard to the closer of certain tool gates, already informed to the NHAI. SP immediately alerted by wireless to Padubidri Police as well as Sasthan Police Stations on the issue of closer of some toll gates. He informed the caller that in case toll gates closed immediately call No 100 and we will take the action on NHAI.

Another caller informed to the SP regarding DJ sound system used till late night and also consuming the illegal drugs. SP informed the caller that in case such case of late Dj music disturbance, immediately inform the nearest police station and then action will be taken on late night music and illegal drug consumption. Actually late night Dj music sound system allowed up to 10 pm with less sound.

One women caller said that the Horticultural income amount had held up by the Hebri Agricultural Co operative Bank. SP said that it is wrong practice and will asked to bank officials to release the such amount.

One caller from Udupi told to SP that from Masjid Road to CMC via Sanskrit Road in Udupi the private bus drivers stopping buses at least five times on the road and disturbing all other vehicles riders as well as the members of public.

A women caller from Thottam near Malpe told SP that old pedestrian’s road disrupted due to blocking the road by putting poles on the road and disturbing the public.

There were other calls in regard to Cockfighting in Kota, cross parking at Santhekatte during the weekly market on Sunday, the sale of fish on the road at Vadse near Kollur, continuous car parking near Brahmavar Tahsildar office, vehicle movement on the opposite direction on NH 66, illegal alcohol sale at Kundapur urban areas, Matka business at Siddapura near Shankernarayana police limit, illegal gambling at Karkala, by giving cricket commentary with disturbance at Saccheripete near Belman, cigarette consumption in public places at Brahmagiri, Udupi, illegal Pataki sale at Kumbashi and Karkala Town, cheating in chit fund at Shankernarayana police station limit, illegal sand mining at Hejmady and Shankernarayana and lending money with illegal interest at Ambagilu.

Dr. Sanjeev M Patil said that as per the circular from the state government in response to illegal agents in India by the embassy officials from Riyadh of Saudi Arabia, he said that most of the people get cheating by the agents in order to give false promises on gulf jobs especially women maids. Regarding the false jobs promises by the illegal agents, the police organized awareness programmes for the people. Severe action will be taken on illegal recruiting agents in the district, SP said.

There were 29 calls were received by the Superintendent of Police during the one hour phone – in programme on 21^st October.
