Udupi : The district Congress Party observed ‘black day’ on Wednesday, 8^th November, 2017 at its party office at Nayarkere, Ajjarkad here to mark the first anniversary of demonetization of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 notes by the Central government.

Addressing protestors, Oscar Fernandes Member of Rajya Sabha and senior Congress leader said that today not only Congress Party all the opposition observe the black day in order to have the responsibility to keep monitoring the working of BJP government at Centre. We are observing black day all over the country for the failure in introducing demonetization. The opposition have the role to the betterment of the citizens of India.

He said that after demonetization Modi said that within 50 days all the obstacles and problems for the citizens will be relieved. But nothing had done and still we have the effect after 365 days due to the demonetization. 

We are not against the note ban. But the way the Modi introduced the GST will be disaster of the people which especially middle class people caused by the government. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh alerted Modi about the disaster effects of the measure in the Lok Sabha. Then Modi said that why there was any need to wear raincoat when taking bath. Now Modi can evaluate the speech of Manmohan Singh.

While introducing GST, lot of workers lost job and gone to their homes. The GDP has come down to 5.8% which the government already confessed. The GDP is calculated by the government. There is fall of one percent than UPA government. Modi had assured in meetings to create two crore jobs every year. In the sense, Modi should have been able to create seven crore new jobs in three and half years. We can see two crore people have lost their jobs. People of northern parts of the country and in Gujarat have come down to streets due to sufferings they are going through. In Gujarath, the textile industries face severe problems due to the GST, Oscar said.

Today, we can see large number of people are participating the rallies of the Congress in Gujarath during election campaign while in Modi’s public rallies, people can seen walking away before the end of his address, he said.

Oscar Fernandes said that with the introduction of GST, there is 28% on hotel industries will impact on the common people. At present Modi indulges in various things to cover up for failures. Modi’s tactic by giving false promises mere gimmicks. Now people understand the Modi and his party.

Oscar asked the party workers to spread awareness among the families on Modi’s failures and educate the people about follies of Modi government. Everybody knows that Modi prior to the election promised to bring changes in one month, but failed to show any result. He also promised to credit Rs.15 lac to everyone’s account by bringing back black money from overseas. But he had not done so. GDP fall has provided by statistics given by UNESCO. He also said that our country has gone down in the list of below poverty nations from 67 to 100. The poverty and unemployment have risen very fast. The situation of Indian economy very much worsened due to introduction of GST and demonetization.

Prior to, MA Gafoor, Chairman of Karnataka State Minorities Development Corporation pointed out some of the worst situation of the country in all over development. The disastrous results in financial system, worst situation due to unemployment, economy imbalance, increase fuels like Gas and petrol, diesel and many more have been the achievements of the Modi government.  The situation of small scale industries worsened due to demonetization. Over all the citizens of the country are facing acute disaster. When LPG price hike increased or when bank were nationalized, BJP had protested inside and outside the Lok Sabha. Now the prices of fuels and the LPG increased. Modi government influenced the Ambanis and Adanis for their business growth, but not influenced the small scale and medium scale business.
