Opposing Tipu Jayanti celebration to gain publicity for the coming election - Vinay Kumar Sorake, Kaup MLA

Udupi : The Tipu Jayanti celebrated since three years all over the state. The assembly election is nearing and the opposition parties are opposing the Tipu Jayanti celebrations, said Vinay Kumar Sorake, Kaup MLA and former District in-charge Minister.


He was speaking after inaugurating the district level Tipu Jayanti organized at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hall at Rajatadhri, Manipal on Friday, 10th November, 2017, which was organized by District Administration, Kannada and Culture Department, Vinay Kumar said that the election will come and to gain publicity, all these problems arises.


He said our country with various religions, culture, language people are living with communal harmony. All religions in favour of love each other. Jesus Christ said love your enemies. Budha teaches us peace and equality, Jains and even Hindus teaches us love one another. We believe due to the truth, non-violence and peace, we got Independence from the British.


Large number of people made war against the British in order to get the Independence. Tipu Sultan’s role to get Independence also can’t forget. There will be various programmes  would be conducted to remember the sacrifices for the country of many leaders, he said.

If we see the history, large numbers of Muslims are supporting Hindus and helped for the development of the Hindu temples. Haji Abdulla of Udupi donated oil to Sri Krishna math during the Lakshadeep occasions. Muslims supported the temple of Bappanad, at Mulki. Plently of occasions the Hindus as well as Muslims lived with peace and harmony, he said.

The history says Tipu Sultan was a secular that he helped most of the temples for renovation and other occasions. He was the great leader with secular motivations, he said.

Meenakshi Madhava Bannanje Udupi CMC President was presided over the programme in the absence of Pramod Madhwaraj, district in charge minister.

Paniraj, a great thinker and professor in MIT was the resource person during the occasion. He pointed out the some of the contributions to society during his time to all the people. He wondered the way the Tipu Sultan Jayanthi celebrations complicated one.

Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis, Superintendent of Police Dr. Sanjeev M Patil, Additional Deputy commissioner Anuradha, ZP CEO Shivananda Kapasi and others were present. Ganesh Gangulli compered the programme. Prior to the stage programme, cultural program were held on the occasion.
