Udupi : The experts from the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) along with the police officials have conducted survey on accident spots on the National Highway to find out a solution check accidents, said Dr. Sanjeev Patil, Superintendent of Police, Udupi district.

He was speaking to media persons during phone in-phone programme at Police Headquarters’ Office on Saturday, 11^th November, 2017, he said that the police personnel and MIT experts have inspected the spot and identified the loopholes on the NH road structure and the survey has been completed from Udupi to Hejmady the border of the district. The experts will submit a draft copy on the survey report which will be submitted to the DC.

In regard to the BJP’s Parivarthana Rally, the district administration with the Police has all necessary precautions and security has been strengthened. DAR and KSRP platoons have been deployed. Check posts have been opened in important locations in the district. The Yathra will be held for two days in Udupi district, he said.

Patil said that there was no untoward incidents occurred during Tipu Jayanti celebrations in the Udupi district.

On receiving complaints those two wheelers and other vehicles had been parked in front of shops and business complexes obstructing the movement of other vehicles on Mosque Road, opposite Raj Tower at City Bus stand. He promised to act immediately.

Dr Sanjeev Patil said that Pramod Madhwaraj District in-charge Minister paid a fine of Rs. 100 for riding a motorcycle without a helmet at Karje village in Udupi district. The minister rode a motocycle for a few minutes and the video clippings of Pramod Madhwaraj riding the motorcycle without helmet went viral on the social media and also these photographs were posted on WhatsAPP groups.

Pramod Madhwaraj contacted the Brahmavar police and paid the fine on Friday. SP said that Pramod Madhwaraj is a law abiding citizen.

Dr. Sanjeev Patil said that in the previous week the police had booked 848 cases against people who not wearing helmets in the district while 170 cases were booked against vehicles using shrill horns.
