The inauguration of 11th General Conference of SCZIEF, Hyderabad held at Udupi

Udupi : The 11th General Conference of South Central Zone Insurance Employees’ Federation, Hyderabad was formally inaugurated on 18-11-2017 at Basel Missionaries Memorial Auditorium, Udupi.
The four day long conference is being held under the auspices of Insurance Employees Union, Udupi Division and is attended by over 1000 participants working in LIC Offices from Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states. A massive rally was organized as a prelude to the conference from premises of LIC Divisional Office, Udupi to the venue of the conference.
The conference was inaugurated by Padmashree Prof. Ganesh N. Devy, Chairman, People’s Linguistic Survey of India, who in his address said today the Indian Insurance Industry completes 200 years of its existence and felt happy to stand before the insurance workers to inaugurate the 3rd century of Indian Insurance Industry. He said, born with an initial capital of 5 crores, LIC made spectacular progress and contributes to national building activities. He complimented insurance workers for their dedication and hard work to bring LIC to its present stature and said LIC, acclaimed to be a way of life among the masses must be protected and any moves of the Govt., to destabilize its public sector should be fought back by insurance workers. He said now a days the concept of nationalism is threatening the right of expression of people. Extreme racism and intolerance breeds contempt and mutual hatred among the section of our community. He said the aggressive capitalism pursued by Govts., world over attacks and topples the basic tenets of democracy. We called on the working class to fight against all these oddities and open yet another golden page of struggle in guaranteeing the process of democracy for our nation.
The Chief Guest Sri Amanulla Khan(President, All India Insurance Employees’ Association) in his address said the idea of one nation and one language is vicious and poisonous to our unipolar society. On working class movements, he said the recently concluded MAHAPADAV rally of workers at New Delhi was a thumping success as over six lac workers from all over the nation participated in the said rally. Talking on the issue of demonetization and introduction of GST as claimed to be ethical and moral issues, he questioned the moral stand of the Government on 140 people died on queues at Banks. He said as per UN reports, India is second largest unequal society in the world.
The other Chief Guest Sri V.Ramesh(Gen. Secretary, AIIEA) in his address described LIC as a backbone of Indian economy and called on comrades to protect it in Public Sector. He gave an account of welfare measures undertaken by the union for the victims of natural calamities in different parts of the nation.
The chairman of the Reception Committee Dr. K.Rajendra Udupa, Professor N.I.T.K. Surathkal while presenting report of the reception committee reminded of his close association with Insurance Employees Union and he lauded the social commitment of the union.
Sri Balakrishna Shetty, Vice President(CITU), Sri Rajesh Mudhol, Marketing Manager, LIC, Udupi, Sri Manohar Veigas, General Secretary, All India Life Insurance Employees’Association, Sri K.V.Bhat (AITUC), Sri Sunil Raj (BEFI), Sri R.M.Samuga, LIC Class I Officer’s Association, Sri Nanda Krishna, (NFIFWI) and Sri Ramesh Kumar (LICAOI) were present on the Dias and conveyed their wishes for the success of the conference.
Sri K.Venugopal Rao, President (SCZIEF) presided over the conference. Sri Clement Xavier Das, General Secretary(SCZIEF), Sri Shrikant Mishra, Joint Secretary(AIIEA), Sri N.M.Sundaram, former General Secretary(AIIEA) and other members of Zonal Federation were present on the Dias.
Sri U.Gurudath, General Secretary, IEU, Udupi welcomed the gathering and Sri J.Suresh, Joint Secretary(SCZIEF) presented vote of thanks.
