Udupi : The very impressive display of students and athletes at inaugural of annual sports meet of 2017-18 by Milagres English Medium Schools, Kallianpur at beautiful prepared Milagres College ground near here on Tuesday, 21^st November, 2017.

The Chief Guest of the day Mr. Steevan M. P. Dias National Medal Winner in Athletics (Marathon and Walk), Vice President of Dakshina Kannada Athletic Association, Superintendent of Customs Central Exvcise and Central Tax (GST), Mangaluru and former President of Rotary International Club accorded a warm welcome with a salute by School Bank along with the guests of honour Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo Correspondent of Milagres Educational Institutions and Rector of Milagres Cathedral, Udupi Diocese, Rev Fr. Prakash Anil Castelino Campus Director of Milagres College, Rev Fr. Lancy Fernandes sj, Principal of Milagres English Schools, Veera D’Silva Headmistress of Milagres English Medium Primary School, Rathnakar Kotian and Jayaram Nittur PTA Presidents, N. Sundar and Mrs Shakunathala PTA Vice Presidents and escorted them ceremoniously to the specially built dais on the occasion. Indeed it was a wonderful display of school brass band played by the students of the school.

Then the guard of honour by all athletes was received by Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo. Wow, what a colourful march fast from small kids of KG section to High School students, really fantastic one which is first time in the history of Milagres English School all the students and athletes displayed in huge ground with tuning the school wonderful band.

Thereafter, Rev Fr. Lancy Fernandes hoisted the sports flag. The athletes of Milagres English school who participated the state and national level winner and also the winners in the National level brought the sports – flame to the ground and after taking a lap around the ground handed over the flame to the chief guest Steevan M. P. Pais. He then later in turn lighted the cauldron on the stand by senior PT teacher Vincent Mascarenhas.

The formal inauguration of the sports meet was done by the chief guest and the guest of honour on the dais by releasing tri-colour balloons on the sky. One of the winners in the national level winner of the school took oath from the leaders of the athletes.

The chief guest Steevan Dias was declared the sports meet open. In his chief guest address, Steevan M P. Dias pointed out the some of the do hints and said the students to be more proactive and spend more time in physical activities rather than being chained only to the curricular activities. He appreciated the disciplined colourful march fast of the students and athletes. The sports event teaches the discipline and punctuality in our life.   Good physique students should take advantage in the sports and shine in their sports career with achieve highest goal in their life. He said he urge today all students to take the challenge and excel in every field you have been provided with the school management.

Steevan M. P. Pais was felicitated with traditional shawl, garland, fresh fruits and memento. Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo thanked the guests for accepting the invitation to attend the sports event inaugural function. He appreciated the all arrangements during the function and wished the best for the athletes and the students.

The formal programme was begun with prayer song by the students. Rev Fr. Lancy Fernandes sj welcomed the gatherings. Mrs. Veera D’Silva delivered vote of thanks. Senior most teacher Mariate Sequeira Rodrigues round 1250 students were participated during the inaugural programme. Parents and the heads of sister institutions were present. The three days sports events have closing ceremonies at the end of the day with the distinguished guests. The beautiful arrangement led by Principal Fr. Lancy Fernandes has been appreciated.
