Udupi:  St. John Academy Shankerpura Annual Sports Event begins with Sports Flag Hoisting Ceremony

Spura: 29 Nov 2017;  The annual sports event at St. John’s Educational Institutions began with Flag Hoisting ceremony on Tuesday 28th November 2017.  It’s a three day sport event which will be held from 28th November to 30th November 2017 with participation by all Educational Institutions of St. John Academy; St. John Higher Primary School, St. John High School (English/Kannada) and St. John PU College.  The Annual School Day will be held on 8th December wherein all the winners will be given away with prizes.
The beautiful ceremony began with March Past by all the three institutions from Primary to PU College with the beats of St. John School band.  All the squad leaders marched to the School stage holding their squad flags wherein Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves (Correspondent)  received the salute from the squad leaders. It was an impressive display and treat to watch the students performing their role so systematically holding the flag high.

Once all the classes were assembled at their respective placed designated systematically, the sports event was officially inaugurated with flag hoisting by Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves accompanied by Rev. Fr. Vincent Coelho (Principal, PU College), Mr. Mohandas Shetty (HM, Kannada Medium), Ms. Irine D’Souza (HM, Primary-Kannada Medium) and Sr. Winnie D’Souza (HM, Primary English Medium). 
A brief stage program was held wherein Mr. Mohandas Shetty welcomed the guests on dais namely Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves (Corresponent), Fr. Vincent Coelho (Principal), Ms. Irine D’Souza (HM, Primary-Kannada Medium) and Sr. Winnie D’Souza (HM, Primary English Medium).  All the guests were felicitated with roses.  Fr. Ferdinand spoke on the occasion and wished good luck to all students and stressed that take part in sports merely not for winning but be a part of the sport.  He applauded the march-fast ceremony.

The oath taking ceremony was conducted by Miss. Lilliyana D’Souza (SPL-High School Kannada Medium) prior to beginning of the sports.
Ms. Irine D’Souza proposed vote of thanks while Mr. Domian Noronha (PT) conducted the stage program.

The day long sports event began at about 10pm with the 1500 race and followed by many other sports events.
