Udupi : Human rights are universal  which basically the rights that every person has by virtue of being human being and every person should respect human rights, said Shivanand Kapasi, KAS, CEO of ZP, Udupi district.

He was speaking after inaugurating the “World Human Rights Day” at Salihat Women’s PU College, Hoode near here on Monday, 11^th December, which was organized by District Administration, District Legal Services Authority with the collaboration of Salihat Educational Institutions at Hoode. Shivanand Kapasi said that Human is not independent who difficult to live alone. Every individual has the inherent right to live. Obviously, Human rights are said to be a set of norms that portray certain standards of human behavior. Human rights are known to be incontrovertible fundamental rights that a person is entitled to just because he or she is human being. We should depend ourselves the human rights, he said.

In his key note address, Venkatesh G. Kundar, Correspondent of Jagrathi Janaseva Organisation, Those said that every year 10^th December is celebrated as Human Rights Day. This day is acknowledged as the worldwide declaration of human rights and ensures its continued existence and remembrance as a common standard for all nations. I am very sure that just like me there are many people who are not aware about these human rights. Many might not even know there exists something like this and many might be aware but don’t know how important these are and how to deal with these.

Rathnakar Shetty, President of Udupi Bar Association, said that Human Rights are a set of rights that are given to every human being regardless of his or her gender, castes, creed, religion, national, location or economic status. These are said to be moral principles that illustrate certain standards of human behavior protected by law, these rights are applicable everywhere and at every time. Every person has the freedom of thought and conscience, every person has right to life and has the right to fair trial by an impartial court. The idea of human rights and liberty has existed since centuries. However, it has evolved over the period of time. Human rights are norms that depict certain standards of human behavior and are protected by law.

While every human being is entitled to human rights are often violated. The violation of the rights occurs when actions by state ignore, deny or abuse the fundamental rights of the citizens, he said.

Kumarachandra, Additional Superintendent of Police, Udupi district, Inna Udayakumar Shetty District Human Rights Associations and Vijayalakshmi Nayak, District Official of PU Education Board were spoke during the occasion.

Smt Latha Hon. Senior Civil Judge and member secretary of District legal Services Authority was presided over the programme and she taken auth from the participants.

The programme began with state song by the students of PU College. Hamjad Hejmadi Kodi Adovate was the resource person. M Ismail Saheb President of Salihat Educational Institutions, Idrees Hoode Vice President, Sulochana member of Taluk Panchayat, Dr. Salina Principal of the PU College and others were present on the dais.
