Udupi : Rs. 53.5 lacs cost established first Sea Walk Way in the state and second in the country inaugurated by Pramod Madhwaraj, District In-charge Minister as well as Minister for State of Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment at Malpe here on Friday, 26^th January, 2018.

After the inauguration, Pramod Madhwaraj said that 480 meters long and 2.7 meters width Sea Walk Way established very fast which 1^st November 2017 laying on foundation program held and now today on 26^th January, the project has been completed and done the inauguration. Malpe Sea Walk Way is the second after beach in Kerala in the country. The walk way tourists as well as locals can enjoy with facility to sit and take freshness. Under the Nirmithi Kendra the sea walk way established with statue of fisherwoman, fishermen and child at the end which is beautiful. All along colourful lights are installed and so tourists can see beauty of Malpe beach, St Mary’s Island along with three Islands at the end.  In order to development of Malpe beach, more than Rs 22 crores worth road, bridge, fishery jetty and other projects undertaken. Malpe fishing fort is the second largest fishing boats fort in India, he said.

Secondly, Malpe developed into the one of the tourist center in the country. The development of St Mary’s Island is one of the best beaches in the country with coloumnar rock structures other than Africa. St Mary’s Island would be one of the cleanest beaches with beautiful natural place for the tourists will avail all necessary and needful care and attention, he said.

Malpe Padukere beach also will be developed like Malpe beach and shortly we will get Blue Flag registration and hence after the development of the Padukere beach, tourism will be increased naturally and youths can take advantage in growth of three beaches around Malpe which more profitable instead fishing, he said.

Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje President Udupi CMC, Harmis Noronha, President of CMC standing committee, Laxman Nimbargi SP, Udupi district, Shivanand Kapasi CEO, Zilla panchayat, Arun Kumar official of Nirmithi Kendra were present on the dais.

Manjunathaiah Udupi CMC Commissioner spoke key note address and welcomed the gatherings. Wilfred D’Souza Assistant Director of Tourism Department delivered the vote of thanks.

Udupi Municipal councilors, tourism officials and political leaders were present during the occasion.
