Udupi : In order to control environment pollution, certain legal actions should be needed, said Udupi District Chief Sessions Court Judge T. Venkatesh Naik.

Addressing after the inaugural programme on District Environment friendly School award distribution ceremony which organized by Karnataka State Pollution Control Board along with the collaboration with District Administration, District Legal Services Authority, Public Education Department and Karnataka State Science Parishet, Udupi held at Manipal Rajathadri, DC office, Manipal near here on Saturday, 27^th January, 2018.

Hon’able Judge said that the various pollution control boards are done excellent responsibility in regard to Air Pollution, Sound Pollution, Water Pollution and Soil Pollution in particular. There should be need to take legal action on violators of environmental pollution.

Pollution is the contamination of the environment by introduction of contaminants that can cause damage to environment and harm or discomfort to humans or other living species. Environment pollution is one the greatest challenges that the world is facing today. Environmental pollution has its own causes, effects and solutions, he said.

Especially in Udupi district schools are very much friendly with environment clean. Along with the academic education, the students should  take knowledge in regard to keep environment clean methods along with the environmentalists’ of the district. The awareness on clean environment needed specially in the schools, he said.

Dinesh Nayak was the resource person during the programme and explained the advantages from various plants which useful for our health in particular.

On the occasion, Government Higher Primary School, Kelarkalbettu near Santhekette, Udupi bagged the District Environment friendly School Award with Rs. 30,000/- cash prize, Trophy and Award letter during the occasion. Meanwhile, the award winning Headmistress  Sabitha teacher was felicitated and Brahmavar Zone BEO also felicitated.

Moreover, 10 schools awarded with district Green School and 10 schools awarded with Yellow School award on the occasion.

The selection committee member Aravind Hebbar pointed out the method and measures taken during the selection of the awards. He appreciated the schools as well as the teachers who supported the campaign on green environment and environment pollution control through the saplings of plants and other matters.

Dinesh Shettigar, Karnataka State Science Parishet Secretary gave the key note address. Udupi Public Education Department Deputy Director Sheshashayana Karinja and others were present.

Environment Officer Dr. H. Laxmikanth welcomed the gatherings and Shivprasad delivered vote of thanks.
