Udupi : In education field, Udupi district is in leading in the state. There are more educated youths in our district. Where there is demand more, there should be supply also more and they should get the employment. It was the responsibility of the system to provide jobs to the educated youth, said Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister of State for Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Udyog Mela organized by the Department of Employment and Industrial Training, College Education Department and other organization along with Dr. G. Shanker Government Women’s First Grade College here at Ajjarkad on Tuesday, 30^th January, 2018.

Pramod said that the Department of Employment should give first preference to Udupi district while providing employment opportunities that the supply is more in the district that more educated youths to get employment. Large number of graduates and post graduates in the district could become frustrated if they did not get jobs. The Youth who passed from professional courses were under far more pressure as they had taken educational loans to complete their courses. These youths were being pressurized by their parents on one hand and on the other hand by the banks, he said.

He said that mere possession of degrees would not fetch employment for the youth. They need to have soft skills. It was only when they had both that their chances of getting a job became bright.

Even educated youth should try to get self-employed. There are various benefits from the both central and state government encouraging getting self employed and educated youths even take advantage. The educated youth become self employed and these youths can generate jobs for others also, he said.

Khalandar Khan, Employment Officer delivered the introductory speech. Dr. Bhaskar Shetty S., Principal of the college presided over the inaugural programme. Srikrishna Rao Kodancha, President of Udupi chambar of Commerce and Industry, Jagadish, District Skill Development Officer, Sridhar Bhat, Placement Officer and other were present on the dais.

Sridhar Bhat welcomed the gatherings. Ramraya Acharya, Student Welfare Officer proposed vote of thanks. Dr. Roshan Kumar Shetty, Physical Education Director compered the programme. Large numbers of students from locality colleges were participated during the programme.
