Udupi : The most important two needs of the people of Udupi constituency which promised last legislative assembly almost to be fulfilled, Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA of Udupi constituency.

He was addressing during the interaction program organized at Sathyamurthy Hall, Udupi CMC building d two main needs of pon Friday, 2^nd Februrary, Pramod said that he promiseeople that 24x7 electricity supply and drinking water supply. The one promise of supplying 24 hours electricity supply fulfilled and bringing water supply from Varahi will be fulfilled within 30 months, he said.

Presently from Swarna river water has been supplied to the Udupi city. But it will be not enough for all 12 months of the year due to shortage of water from the main supplying dam at Swarna River. There was the planning to second project to bring water from the Swarna River. In fact, we found that even though the proposed second project, the water supply not possible. Hence, there is no way to bring water from the Varahi at Kundapur Taluk.

Now tender has called to bring water from Varahi to the Baje Dam near Hiriyadka and to be supply water to the city at the cost of Rs. 370 crores under Amrith Project and ADB which will be completed within 30 months.

The proposed plan will cost Rs. 370 crores which water will be supplied through 38 km long to Baje dam and after the purification over there, the water will be supplied to the city, he said.

Pramod said that the prime reason to call this meeting that we have to consult with the people and that report shall be given to the government for further action. Every effort will be made to take all people into confidence in the implementation of his project. But during the interaction meeting at CMC hall, the majority seats were vacant.
