Udupi : The question of giving BJP ticket to Shiroor Swamiji Sri Laxmivara Theertha not arise. In party during discussions for selecting candidates, the issue of fielding Shiroor seer had not come up, Shobha Karandlaje, MP of Udupi – Chickamaglur Parliamentary Constituency.

Addressing to media persons at the venue of “Kamala Jathre” near here on Saturday, 17^th March, Shobha Karandlaje said that Swamiji of Shiroor’s nomination as Independent candidate not affect the BJP. All eligible persons have right to contest in democratic country. There is no question about offering BJP tickets to any candidates.

About Rajashekarananda Swami of Vajradehi Mutt who another aspirant candidate in BJP ticket, she said the party would field candidates on the basis of statewide surveys conducted by it. We will give ticket to candidates who can win in the election. On the Shiroor swamij’s statement about corruption in the Udupi district unit of the party and lack of developmental works in the Udupi Assembly constituency when BJP was in power, she said she and senior party leaders had discussed with Shiroor Swami. She told to Swami that we will set it right in Udupi BJP. She said that we are confident of winning of Udupi constituency seat. People would not like to waste their vote on an Independent candidate who ever it may be, she said.

She said during Indira Gandhi’s rule, Congress had powers in 18 seats. But under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah, BJP holds power in 22 states in the country. The countdown has begun for the chief minister of Karnataka, said Shobha Karandlaje.

Karandlaje said that the present generation of Congress keeping aside the senior congressmen. A bad atmosphere has been created in the state which is example of senior leader Veerappa Moily’s tweet. Now the congress is dealt in ticket mafia. Congress party leading in mafia’s like tender, liquor, sand mining, drug mafia. Now we can say that now commission mafia and money mafia in selecting candidates for the election. The people of Karnataka lost the confidence with the Congress Party. Even Rahul Gandhi is also hand of Siddaramaiha and behaving like the high command, she said.

To question on why the BJP was targeting only the Congress party during the election campaign and not the JDS, she said JDS was irrelevant in several constituencies. There is no deal with any other parties with BJP in the election, she said.

She said now coming days, Rahul Gandhi will visit the district. She said that I do not know why he is coming here and what achievements he will display to the people that there is nothing new to show in terms of development of Congress in the state. Rahul Gandhi, for the sake of election, he would visit the temples even though there is no dedication and devotion to God. His visit to temples is just an election gimmick. Siddaramiah had visited Udupi about six times but he never visited Sri Krishna temple at least once.
