Udupi : Rs. 19,05,150 cash and Rs. 1,32,239 worth Liquor seized by the Election Commission’s surveillance and flying squads in Udupi district since model code of conduct from election declared, said Priyanka Mary Francis, Deputy Commissioner of Udupi District.

Addressing to media persons at the press meet held at DC office on Wednesday, 18^th April, DC said that out of Rs. 19,05,150 cash seized, Rs. 13,75,750 cash was returned after submitting proper available documents to the Surveillance Committee which will meet thrice in a week.

She said that in Byndoor legislative constituency, 3 cases were reported of illegal possessing cash worth Rs. 4,45,340, in Kundapur legislative constituency three cases were reported illegal possessing cash worth Rs. 7,18,710, in Udupi legislative constituency one case was reported illegal possessing cash worth Rs. 59,000, in Kaup legislative constituency three cases were reported illegal possessing cash worth Rs. 6,81,100 and in Karkala legislative constituency there is no such cases reported.

Total FIRs registered in Byndoor legislative constituency two, in Kundapur four, in Udupi six, in kaup four and in Karkala legislative constituency five. Total in district 27 FIRs registered in various police stations, she said.

The excise department seized total 201.87 liters of liquor and 6.57 liters of liquor seized by the police department during the raids, she said.

DC said that the election notifications have been notified on 17^th April in the state. Hence, the notifications pave way for candidates to file their nominations in the respective contesting constituencies.

She said that a total of 36,022 applications have been received including 20,682 for new registrations, 6 under Form 6A, 8,792 from Form 7, 5,602 under Form 8 and 950 under Form No 8A.

The last date to submit the electoral forms is 24^th April, and the Electoral Returning officer will take the decision on the same.

The nominations would be received at Sthri Shakthi Bhavan at Byndoor, Assistant Commissioner’s office, Mini Vidhana Soudha at Kundapur, Old Zilla Panchayat building, first floor, Bannanje for Udupi and Kaup and Mini Vidhana Soudha , Room no 5,Taluk office in Karkala. All political parties and contesting in election candidates should take permission from the election commission prior to 8 hours and for Helicopters prior to 24 hours and submit the application, she said.

Priyanka Mary Francis along with other officials released T-shirts and caps for the 40 employees of Solid and Liquid Resource Management units in the areas of Varamballi, Nitte, Hebri, Hardalli-Mandalli, Mudaru, Vandse and Mundkuru. Theseare employed in the SVEEP publicity.
