Udupi : Women in Karavali areas are forward in many ways which will be appreciated. But in general, the identity of Christian women not reached what they would expects, said Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo, Rector of Milagres Cathedral, Dean of Kallianpur Deanery of Udupi Diocese.

Addressing to Kallianpur Deanery level Women during the “Sthri Divas Sambhram” at Milagres Tri-Centenary Hall on Wednesday, 18^th April, 2018, said that the women leadership in outside the Church is not enough. Women should change in their concept of thinking. It should be need to change in our thinking, so that we can live better male dominated in our society.

There was resolution introduced in the parliament in 1996 for the women reservation of 33%. But we do not find enough women lawmakers in both the parliaments at New Delhi. The well deserved male bashing; we hope the women do not miss out on another set of changes required on themselves. We talk a lot about how society should change its perspective towards women. But, as a whole, there is still “Kirthige Obba Maga, Arathige Ondu Magalu” ideology in our society. We should try our best to keep equality with men. There should need to change in our ideology which can proceed us on top for good in our society, he said.

Rev Fr. Reginald Pinto, Diocesan Director of Shtri Sanghaton was the chief guest. He gave his brief address during the occasion and appreciated the women for their unity and women empowerment in the diocese.

The office bearers of Kallianpur Deanery as well as all units of the Kallianpur deanery heads were honoured during the occasion.

Earlier the programme began with invocation prayer hymn by Brahmavar Church unit. Asha D’Souza President of Kallianpur Deanery Women Association welcomed the gatherings. Deanery official Rita Roche placed the report. Veera Pinto delivered vote of thanks. Janet and Sabitha Fernandes compered the programme.

Various cultural programmes like dance, skit and singing were held during the occasion. Large number of women of Kallianpur Deanery were participated in the Women Day Celebrations.
