Udupi : The exact cause of Hussainabba’s death was yet to be confirmed as the post-mortem and the forensic reports in the case were still awaited, said Laxman Nimbargi, Superintendent of Police.

Briefing the media on the developments in the Hussainabba’s suspicious death, SP Laxman Nimbargi said on Monday, June 4 that in the case 10 people were arrested and remaining involved in the case are absconding will be arrested soon. The main accused in the case Suresh Mendon alias Suri was accused in four other cases in the Hiriyadka Police station, SP said.

Nimbargi said that the Bajarang Dal activists intercepted a vehicle transporting cattle in the wee hours of May 30, in the presence of police. They assaulted Hussainabba and handed him over to the police. The police took Hussainabba to the police station in the police official vehicle, by the time they reached the police station, Hussainabba was dead. The police then dumped the body a kilometer from the crime spot and registered a case of unnatural death stating that he had suffered a cardiac arrest.

Hussainabba’s vehicle Scorpio did not have number place, but it was broken by the Bajarang Dal activists who attacked the vehicle, SP said.

The police had arrested Suresh Mendon alias Suri (42) and Prasad Kondadi from Ballari on 1^st June while police arrested Umesh Shetty, a resident of Perdoor and Rathan (22), a resident of Hiriyadka on 2^nd June.

Hiriyadka SI D. N. Kumar, his jeep driver Gopal and Head Constable Mohan Kotwal were arrested on Sunday, 3^rd June. Other three people arrested are Chetan Acharya, Shailesh Shetty and Ganesh Acharya activists of Bajarang Dal.

SP said that SI D N Kumar and other two police staff have admitted that they did not stop the assult on Hussainabba allegedly by the Bajarang Dal activists. All three police officials were produced before the Magistrate on Sunday, June 3 and sent to judicial custody and later shifted to Karwar Jail. Three more accused in the case were produced before the district open court on Monday and court has sent them to judicial custody until June 15.

Karkala ASP Rishikesh Sonavane IPS will be investigating the case. Additional Superintendent of Police Kumarachandra, DySP Udupi T. R. Jaishanker, DySP Kundfapura Dinesh Kumar, PI Manipal Thimmappa Nayak, CPI Brahmavara Anantha Padbanabha, CPI Kadur Mashesh Prasad, CPI Udupi Town Manjunath, PI DCIB Sampath Kumar and his team, PSI Brahmavar Police station Rafiq, Hiryadka Police station ASI Gangappa, Shivanand and Dinesh of SP office and other among are co-operating in the investigation.
