More than Rs. 2 lac worth ornaments stolen from Yellur temple Shrine

Udupi : Thieves broke into Veeranjaneya Shrine in Yelluru here on Wednesday and stolen with gold and silver jewellery worth about Rs. 2 lac.



The Veeranjaneya Shrine a part of Sri Veereshwara Temple, Yelluru. The temple manager Raghavendra Rao lodged a complaint at Padubidri Police station.

As per the temple manager Raghavendra Rao, the stolen jewellery consists of silver sornament, silver jacket of Anjaneya deity, two silver tins, two silver places, silver foot lamp, gold chain and silver plate used for Arati in the shrine. There was heavy overnight rain which taken advantage by the theft persons. The thieves came to light when the temple priest Sathyanarayana Acharya as usual his visit.



The officials of temple administration and large number of devotees gathered at the temple soon after the theft came to light.  The locals who suspected that the thieves might have thrown the valuables in the lake nearby the temple, jumped into it and searched, but not found anything.

Kaup Circle Police Inspector V S Halamurthy Rao, Padubidri Police and forensic experts visited the site of thieves and conducted the investigations.
