Udupi : All healthy people can donate the blood and save someone’s life. There is wrong thinking that women cannot donate the blood. Such attitude of not to donate blood by women should be discarded, said Priyanka Mary Francis, District Deputy Commissioner.

Addressing after inaugurating the Blood Donation Camp on the occasion of World Blood Donors Day, 2018 organized by District Administration, ZP Udupi, District Health & Family Empowerment department, District AIDS Control unit, Karnataka State Government Employee’s Association, Udupi, Blood Bank Centre, District Hospital, Udupi, Government Industrial Training Centre and other associations at Government Industrial Training Center Hall, Manipal on Thursday, 14^th June, 2018.

Priyanka Mary Francis, DC said that there are possibilities to save several persons’ life through donating blood to those who needy. There is wrong concept not to donate blood by the women, such attitude should not hear by them. Donating blood is the greatest donation in the life. She called to the students to donate blood generously.

During the occasion, more than 50 times donor of blood Ashok Shetty, 32 times blood donor Kusuma, 30 times donor of blood Ramesh Suvarna, Sampath Kumar, Nathar, Sulaiman was felicitated.

Shivanand Kapasi CEO of Zilla Panchayat was presided over the programme. Jagadish Principal of Government Industrial Training Center, Vishwanth Bhat President of IMC., Government Training Centre, Manipal, Subrahanya Sherigar, President of Karnataka State Government Employees’ Association, Udupi, Dr. Chidanand Sanju S. V. District AIDS Control Official, DR. Veena Kumari, Medical Officer of Blood Bank Center, District Hospital, Udupi, Divakar Karvi, President of CSDA, Gangully were present.

District Health and Family Empowerment Official Dr. Rohini welcomed the gathering. Dr. Veena Kumar was the resource person during the occasion.
