Udupi : There should not be shortage of funds to give compensation for natural calamities effected people. Now itself sufficient fund has released to deputy commissioners of the districts for calamities relief, said Revenue Minister and Skilled Development Minister R. V. Dehpande.

He was speaking at DC court hall on the occasion of review meeting of Revenue department programmes of the Udupi district. He said that to distribute compensation atleast Rs. 10 lac transfer on Tahsildar account to carry out immediate repair of damages of roads and other compensation to affected families due to heavy rain.

He said already the compensation for calamity relief distributed and those affected due to fall of trees on the houses also should be treated loss and distribute the relief fund. He asked the officials to be resourcefulness on distributing compensations for natural calamity.

Deshpande said that without looking after the application, the officials should visit the site of the calamity and immediately release the relief. At the time officials need to get information from the elected representatives which will be possible of good governance.

The minister reviewed the programmes of drinking water, Horticulture, agriculture, MESCOM, Forest, Health and other departments. He told officials to take precautionary measures at the time of difficulties for the farmers. During the month of June and July especially, there could be more natural calamities and the officials should not leave their respective departments without the permission of the deputy commissioner.

Minister Deshpande ordered deputy commissioner to conduct the review meeting of the officials atleast once in a week in relate to natural calamity.

He ordered to give show cause notice to absentees of officials during the progress review meeting and said there would be no patience against the absentees of officials.

Urban Development minister U T Kadar asked about the measures taken on control of communicated diseases in the district. The district Health Officer briefed on precautionary measures taken on control of communicated diseases in the district.

Deputy Commissioner placed the precautionary measures taken during the natural calamities through PPT.

Local MLA Raghupathy Bhat impressed on the problems faced due to land transfer regulations and asked the minister to release more funds during the natural calamities in the Udupi legislative constituency.

Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon briefed the problems faced in Kaup Constituency. MLC Pratap Chandra Shetty told to minister that MESCOM not responding during the emergency situations in the district. He asked to give compensation for loss in Horticulture, Rubber Plantation loss and other losses and release the compensation relief. Shetty told to Minister especially in Kundapur constituency since four days there is no electricity power.

ZP President Dinakar Babu, Vice President Sheela Shetty, member Janardhan Thonse, CEO Shivanand Kapasi, Assistant Commissioner Bhunalan and most of the departments officials were present during the review meeting.
