Udupi : The Siddaramiah government has given Rs. 503 crore grants to Udupi City Municipality, out of which already Rs. 353 crore work is already in progress. But during BJP rule both in the state and City Municipality sanctioned only just Rs. 125 crore. What under BJP rule can do developmental work in Udupi city municipality in just Rs 125 crore under BJP governance ? Pramod Madhwaraj asks.

Addressing a media persons in press meet on Wednesday, 29^th August, at Udupi Press Club here, Pramod Madhwaraj said that the election commission has declared the elections for the urban local bodies. Due to the total corruption and other several reasons, BJP administration failed to get majority in Udupi City Municipal Council. There was acute shortage of drinking water for the people of Udupi city municipality limit which there was only 8,500 families. But presently there are about 18,500 families; Udupi city Municipality provided amply water to drink. Previous administration failed to tackle the drinking water problem and forced to supply water through tankers from my own pocket. There was no any problem of drinking water during congress rule for five consecutive years even though there was drought situation in one year, he said.

Pramod said that there is our coalition government in the state which easier to get sanction various projects of the city municipality’s development. We have given chance for perfect candidates in Udupi Municipality council elections. We have confidence to get majority in the city municipal council. But our opponents indulged in bad rumours against us. In the previous legislative elections BJP succeed get votes due to rumors.

As far as increase in trade license fees concerned, Raghupathy Bhat alleging that the congress increased the license fees which would be senseless. Since 60 years, Udupi CMC not increased the trade license fees. But now the total situation completely changed due to inflation in all ways. It is not fair to allegation that trade license fees increased, he said.

There was no complaint of corruption or any protest against the city municipal council members. Once BJP protested against the Municipal commissioner, but not against any municipal councilors, he said.

Answering a question, Pramod said Rs. 25 crores already arrived for the repair of roads in the district due to excess rain this year and more grant would be expected.

Pramod Madhwaraj said that the dream of BJP to complete wash out Congress Party in the country not possible at all. The Congress party will remain forever and there is no question of quit the congress party, he said.

In regard to non availability of sand to the district, Pramod said it is Central government banned to sand mining in CRZ blocks. BJP leaders in the area should take their team to central government in order to get the ample sand to the people, he said.
