Udupi : The Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh along with John D’Silva Foundation, Mumbai organized Prathiba Purashkar, Scholarship and Manipal Health Card distribution programme at St. Francis Xavier’s Church Hall, Udyavar near here on Sunday, 2^nd September, 2018.

The programme began with invocation followed with welcome dance by school students. Mrs. Mary D’Souza President of Catholic Sabha Udupi deanery and Designate President of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh welcomed the gathering.

Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo Bishop of Udupi diocese was inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Dr. Ronald Anil Fernandes, Director, Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) was the chief guest. John D;Silva Chairman, John D’Silva Foundation, Mumbai, Rev Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves Spritual Director, Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh, Very Rev Fr. Stany B. Lobo Chancellor of Udupi diocese and parish priest of Udyavar church, Valerian R. Fernandes, Immediate Past President of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh were the guest of honor.

In his inaugural address Bishop said that diocese has been putting efforts to get more students to study the top level examinations in relate to getting top governmental jobs for our community students. But since five years after establishing diocese, only four gets top level government jobs which not enough. Udupi diocese providing whatever guidance needed to our students, he said.

Dr. Ronald Anil Fernandes distributed the Manipal Health Card symbolically to one of the family of the diocese. In his keynote address, Dr Ronald Anil Fernandes strengthened the meritorious students with his successful experience during his career. He called the students not to hesitate even though when failed in the examinations. Try once again and again, and then one time success will be yours, he said.

John D’Silva, Chairman, John D’Silva Foundation, Mumbai in his address told to the students and their parents about the need to get place in top governments jobs and his efforts to give support for students whenever they asking for and settle down in top government jobs which will be benefited throughout their life.

Veronica Cornelio, Coordinator of Manipal Health Card highlighted some of the benefits provided by Manipal hospitals during in-patient and out-patient occasions. The main task of the Catholic Sabha to get maximum benefits for our community through Manipal Health cards. She said last year 13143 health cards were distributed and this year 13641 health cards have been distributed. Various units of the Catholic Sabha provided 114 families health cards when they were not effort to pay the card charges and they benefited more than Rs. 83,250 from the health card. She gave gratitude to all the Presidents and Treasurers’ for their marvelous support to provide the Manipal Health Cards for maximum families of their parishes.

Pratibha Puraskar, honouring one student from each Parish of Udupi diocese who has secured highest marks in SSLC and one student from each Varado in CBSE 10^th Standard, P.U.C.(Arts, Commerce and Science) examination held in 2017/18. Felicitation to Edna Machado and Oliver D’Souza also held to special achievers in Academic performance for the year 2017-18.

Scholarships also distributed to meritorious students of the diocese during the occasion. Rev Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, Spiritual Director of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh spoke during the occasion and appreciated the works of Catholic Sabha.

Alwyn Quadros President of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh presided over the programme and delivered his presiding address.

Jacintha Colaco and Flyvan compared the programme. Maxim D’Souza General Secretary of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh delivered vote of thanks.
