Udupi : The state government planned the merger of state ‘Arogya Karnataka Project’ with Union government’s Ayusman project. Hence, the state government under Ayushman project 62 lakhs people along with 58 lakhs poor people will get Rs. 1.20 crores for the medical charges every year and Rs 5 lakhs each medical bills for the people will be provided, said Health and Family Welfare Minister Shivanand S Patil.

He was addressing after inauguration of Health Cards of Manipal Hospitals which was organized by Udupi G Shanker Family Trust, District Mogaveera Sanghaton and MAHE, Manipal at Shamili Hall, Ambalpady here on Saturday, September 29, Minister said that the state government along with Union government will identify 1600 patients and will pay their medical expenses. There are other patients name has excluded in the list of patients. Every year there has been found different types of diseases and it would very difficult to find out such diseases. The arising new diseases has great concern for the government, he said.

He said it is responsible of the government to safe guard the heath of its citizen. When government failed to provide health services, then private institutions will provide the health services. The government joined hands with the private parties to face the health problems which new diseases arises. The government along with private trusts needs to face the health problems in the country, he said.

Minister warned Dr. B. R. Shetty that if Haji Abdulla Women and Child hospital not performed well by the entrepreneur B. R Shetty, the agreement with government will be cancelled without any hesitation. We need good services for the poor in that hospital as per the agreement with the government, he said.

During the occasion around 30,000 families provided the health cards which 1.35 lakhs people will get medical aid from the G. Shankar Trust.

G. Shankar family trustee Dr. G. Shankar spoke key note address. He said on behalf of trust for cancer and kidney problems Rs. 2.5 crore will be provided to government hospitals of undivided Dakshina Kannada district. The trust also planned to construct Women & Child Hospital at Kundapur, he said.

MAHE Pro-Chancellor Dr. H. S. Ballal voluntarily distributed Manipal Suraksha Health Cards for the beneficiaries. Kasturba Hospital, Manipal Medical Superintendent Dr. Avinash Shetty, Raghupathy Bhat MLA and others were present.

Mogaveera Youth Sanghaton former President Jaya C. Kotian welcomed the gathering. Trust member Shanker Salin delivered vote of thanks. Chandresh Pithrody compered the programme.
