Udupi : District Commissioner informed to Regional Transport Authority to introduce separate colour code to City level Auto Rickshaws as well as rural level running Auto rickshaws.

Hearing after the complaint from large number auto drivers and owners at Atal Bihari Auditorium, DC office during the Regional Transport Authority and Public grievances meeting at Manipal on Saturday, September 29, Priyanka Mary Francis DC ordered to RTO that to introduce two zones, one for Rural and other for City limit autorickshaws. RTO should collect the information of both Zone 1 and Zone autorickshaws and that information should submit to Police department and one copy for Regional Transport office. Like Mangaluru, Colour code stickers will be provided to both the Zone Autos in order to identify the auto rickshaws. Those who violate the respective zones limit, action will be taken, she said.

Surendra Nayak from Manipal said that especially students in Manipal are riding two wheelers with putting earphones inside their Helmet. Hence it is difficult for other vehicles about their movement that these students not hear the horns. He need solution for those who earphones on while driving the two wheeler’s. DC directed the police to take special ride on those who riding the earphones on while driving.

Private companies in Manipal are hiring the two wheelers as well as four wheeler cars for the public, especially for the students. This will effect to do our business in auto as well as cars. There were several accidents of those who riding rented vehicles in Manipal. President of Auto Drivers Association Subraya requested the district administration to put break for these vehicles who hiring their vehicles. DC Priyanka Mary Francis said that there is no law to ban these vehicles who these vehicle owners also doing their business. She informed the Auto men to give the memorandum to the government, so they can place their demands to the government.

Principal of the Admar PU College requested Deputy Commissioner to give permission for Express Buses to stop at Yermal on NH66, so that students can get the benefit. One person told to DC and RTO that there are no buses at Shettibettu near Yelluru during early morning and late evening. In the morning and evening many people get problems without the bus services even though some buses are permit. Other person was told that some vehicles cut the divider of highway and moving the vehicles without any signals. One lady requested that most of the buses have kept steps to catch and board the bus which difficult to old aged women and even aged men also. She requested the RTO and DC to take measure to lower the steps of the buses to board the bus.
