Udupi : 15^th Inter-parish diocesan level Konkani singing competition held at St. John Evangelist Church, Pangala, Shankerpura on Sunday, 28^th October, 2018. Mother of Sorrows Church Udupi emerged Champion for the successive third year.

Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte, Kallianpur and Holy Cross Church Byndoor won the second and thire overall championship respectively.

There were around 650 participants of 26 parishes of the diocese in a day - long event. In the morning Very Rev Fr. Stany Lobo Chancellor of Udupi Diocese was inaugurated the event by unveiling the trophies.

In his inaugural programme Fr. Stany Lobo said that everybody love to listen to music and singing even though all are not able to sing. Music gives happiness and peace of mind to all and it is an important part of life. In order to bring the talents in us, this type of singing competitions will help us to bring talents as well. He appreciated the Pangala ICYM who hosting every year diocese level singing competition since 14 years.

The parish priest Rev Fr. Ferdinand Gonsalves in his introductory address said that indeed music is the language of heart. Human beings have given a shape to music by setting lyrics and tone. If the words are the language of tongue, then music is the language of heart which comforts in loneliness and sadness.

Ivy D’Souza, Shakthinagar, Roshan Crasta, Bela, Zeena Periera Angelore and Meera Crasta Bondel were the judges of the mega event.

During the valedictory programme Very Rev Fr. Denis D’Sa Dean of Shirva Deanery presided over the programme. Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca Dean of Udupi Deanery, Rev Fr. Edwin D’Souza, Director of Youth Commission of Udupi diocese, Rev Fr. Royson Fernandes Asst. parish priest of Pangala Church, Rev Fr. Vincent Coelho Principal of St John,s PU College, Shankerpura, Dion D’Souza President of ICYM, Udupi Diocese, Victor Mendonca and Clara Mendonca Animators, ICYM Pangala unit, Mark Vas Vice President of Pangala Church pastoral council, Seema D’Souza animator of 18 commission of the Pangala Parish were present on the dais.

Veenal Castalino gave a brief introduction on the judges of the competition. Prince Noronha Secretary of ICYM Pangala unit welcomed the gathering and Joel proposed the vote of thanks.
