Udupi : Toll Gate – Sunka Vasulathi Kendra Virodhi Horata Samiti, Belman called for state Highway Bundh against the proposed construction of toll gate in Karkala Padubidre State Highway on Thursday, December 20.

Addressing a press meet on Tuesday, December 18 at Udupi Press Club, N Suhas Hegde, Convener of the committee said that it’s very unfortunate that the state government has taken a hasty decision to construct a Toll gate on the state highway that connects Padubidri and Karkala giving a shocker to the people of Belman and neighbouring villages.

Already we have organized a huge protest, the government failed to cancel the toll gate at Karkala Padubidri State Highway. We have fot the information that, the government is forcefully constructing the Toll Gate at Karkala Padubidri State Highway with the help of police protection. Hence, we have called for another protest on 20^th December, 2018, he said.

We have called for maintain BUNDH on 20^th December entire Karkala Padubidri state highway. All the villagers, religious centres, vehicles owners’ association, International social organizations, Bus owners’ association, auto unions, various local organizations, taxi associations, Bus Associations, Businessmen’s, Industrialists have voluntarily expressed their support to the Bundh, he said.

Hegde said that already we have Hejamady Toll gate and Surathkal Toll gate and there is no exemption to local vehicles. Moreover this is going to be the first ever built toll gate on the state highway. Considering the above facts the government should immediately cancel the above tender abd that on this highway no such tolls be collected. Keeping this demand in front of the government authorities we are organizing a huge protest march on 20^th December Thursday at 9 a.m. Minimum 10,000 people from all the corners of the 27 villages around Belman are expected to join the protest march, said Suhas Hegde.
