Udupi : District Congress members staged a protest against Resort politics of the Bharatiya Janatha Party (BJP) at Martyr’s Memorial, Ajjarkad, here on Thursday, January 17.

Addressing to protesters, Vinay Kumar Sorake former Minister alleged that the BJP was disrespecting the constitution of India and murdering the democracy. BJP succeeded in Goa even though Congress was majority MLAs and formed the government. They also succeeded in forming the governments in Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkand and Manipur by poaching of Congress MLAs. BJP in the country has trying to destabilizing the democracy. Their only programmes in the country are to make horse trading business, he said.

Sorake said that BJP has not been able to digest its defeat and hence resorting to operation Lutus. Yeddyurappa’s personal assistant has busy with coordinating the Congress MLAs in Mumbai and busy with horse trading and offering Congress MLAs with huge money and minister ship if BJP comes into power in Karnataka. BJP has been trying to weakening the constitution.

Sorake said that Yeddyurappa was making futile attempts to destabilize the state government by poaching its leaders. He slammed BJP for spending Rs. 4.5 crores on a daily basis for the stay of its MLAs at Gurgram resort since last 10 days at a time when the state was facing drought situation, missing of fishermen and several other problems. The MP of Udupi Lok Sabha Consituency Shobha Karandlje has missing. MP and MLAs of coastal district are not in their respective constituencies, he said.

Vinay Kumar Sorake said that all over Karnataka state, Congress organizing protest against the operation Lutus of BJP leaders. BJP was making every attempt to destabilize and topple the coalition government. The unity of state JDS-Congress coalition government was governing the state with best schemes to fulfil the aspirations of the people. He warned the BJP leaders that any attempt to make destabilize the government, Congress will not sit quit, he said.

Former MLA Gopal Bhandary said that BJP was disrespecting the constitution everywhere in the country by different ways with the only intention to keep power. Narendra Modi was telling lies to the people and due to that won the election. He alleged that BJP MPs and MLAs not interested in solving the problem of fishermen in the coastal districts. Where are they presently? He asks.

M. A. Gaffoor, Veronica Cornelio and others were speaking during the protest meet. Janardhan Tonse, District Congress President welcomed the protesters.

Prakhyath Shetty, Amrith Shenoy, Wilson Rodrigues, Harish Kini, Narasimha Murthy, Roshni Oliverira, Vishwas Amin, Geeta Wagle, Vignesh Kini, Kiran Kumar Udyavara, Melwyn D’Souza and other Congress leaders were present.
