Udupi : Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur of Udupi diocese celebrated Confraternity Sunday which is also popularly known as “Compri Fest” with Eucharistic celebration, Adoration and grand procession on Sunday, 20^th January, 2019.

A large number of parishioners attended the services on the Confraternity Sunday, as there were no Sunday masses. The Solemn High Eucharistic mass concelebrated by Rev Fr. Louis D’Sa, parish Priest of Mukamar Church of Shirva Deanery along with Very Rev Dr. Lawrence C. D’Souza, Rector of the Cathedral, Rev Fr. Canute Noronha Asst. parish priest of the Cathedral, Rev Fr. John Bennet Superior and Vocational Director of Pilar Fathers and Rev Fr. Jossy Mascarenhas.

In his hard hitting homily Fr. Louis pointed out the importance of Holy Eucharist in Catholic life. The Eucharist is the center of Catholic Church because Jesus Christ is the center of Catholic life and worship. The Catholic Church still professes, as it has for two millennia, that the Eucharist is nothing less than Jesus himself. The Second Vatican Council called the Eucharist the center of the Christian life.

He said that the Eucharist becomes an absolute necessity for the Church and the individual Christian when seen in the light of its central meaning and the Church’s task of bring all men into the unity of faith. He said Jews took the procession and chanted Hosanna the Son of Lord, which still in practice in Catholic Church. The procession of Holy Eucharist leads us the believer of Jesus Christ, the salvation of our sins. The celebration of Holy Eucharist mass much needed in our divine life which will accelerate the faith in God, he said.

Following the end of the mass, Rector of the Cathedral placed the weekly announcements and thanked the main celebrant of the mass Rev Fr. Louis D’Sa and all concerned helped and guided for the success of Compri fest celebrations.

The brief adoration of Blessed Sacrament was held by Fr. Louis D’Sa and later huge procession of faithful with brass band in front, followed by the Cross and altar boys, priests from the Cathedral via Kallianpur Road to Ozanam Home for Aged. The Blessed Sacrament carried by Fr. Louis D’Sa in decorated pickup vehicle which provided by Angels Arrangers, Glenson D’Souza.

At the end of Confraternity Sunday service brief announcements held by Rev Fr. Canute Noronha. Puffs and cold drink provided to all the faithful who participated in the Eucharistic procession from Cathedral to Ozanum Home for the Aged near Santhekatte.
