Print Udupi : The district police arrested six accused including BJP Zilla Panchayat member till date February 8, who murdered Yathish Kanchan and Bharat Poojary at Chikkanakere, Manuru, Kota on January 26.
The police arrested Rajashekar Reddy (44) and Ravi alias Medical Ravi (42) from Medikeri on Thursday February 7. Four other accused were arrested from Hosanagara in Shivmogga district today morning are Harish Reddy (40) brother of another accused Rajashekar Reddy, Mahesh Kumar alias Mahesh Ganiga (38) from Kodavoor, M Ravichandra Poojary alias Ravi (28) from Laximinagar, Kodavoor and Raghavendra Kanchan (38).
Raghavendra Kanchan who is sitting BJP Zilla Panchayat member faces attempt to murder case earlier and has been a rowdy sheeter. Raghavendra Kanchan was constant touch with another accused in the case Rajashekar Reddy over phone since several days. It is learnt that, after the double murder, Rajashekar Reddy first call made to Raghavendra Kanchan, police said.
Laxman Nimbargi, Superintendent of Police said that all accused were produced in the court and plan to seek their police custody for speed of probe in the double murder case.
Reddy brother originally from Andhra Pradesh who settled in Kota several years back. Harish Reddy faces seven criminal cases and Rajashekar Reddy faces nine criminal cases in various police stations in the district.
The four police investigation teams led by Udupi DySP Jaishankar succeeded to arrest six accused and more arrests are expected. Kiran district crime intelligence bureau inspector, Srikanth Circle inspector Brahmavar, Sampath of Women’s police station, Manjunath Udupi Circle inspector and Mahesh Prasad Kaup circle inspector were four teams of the district.
