Udupi, Feb 16: Milagres English Medium school Kallianpur bid a tearful adieu to its SSLC students on Saturday, February 16 with a grand programme by their juniors. This wonderful day began with a group photo in colourful attire.

Students of classes IX and VIII outdid themselves arranging a splendid and theme based entertainment programme. The outgoing students were welcomed uniquely into the school hall by the Chande group with their music. Each outgoing student walked in with a lighted candle. A melodious prayer song added spiritual touch to the programme. The lighting of the lamp was done symbolically with 12 candles representing the 12 memorable years spent in the institution from LKG to 10 std.

After a cordial welcome by Shreesha of Class IX, the hall resounded with music, dance, song and Mime show. Master Nashad and Ms Tanisha shared their sentiments on behalf of the juniors. On behalf of the outgoing batch Ms Adlin and Ms Shefali shared their memories of joys and sorrows and of years spent at Milagres school.

Students of Class XI creatively presented a glimpse of school life filled with naughtiness, chit chats and the like to the joy of the outgoing batch. A short skit by Class XI on “respect for Elders,” moved the audience. Then followed remix of dances, spot games and video presentation on memories of seniors.  

Rev Fr Dr Lawrence C D’Souza, Correspondent of Milagres Institutions and Rector of Milagres Cathedral distributed mementos and bookmarks to the outgoing students. Mrs Hema, PTA Vice President, Rev Fr Lancy Fernandes SJ, Principal of Milagres school, Mrs Veera, Headmistress of Primary School were also present.

Prizes for those who excelled in Value Education and Catechism were felicitated. Winners of Inter-mural  games were honoured. Ms Ankita of Class IX proposed the vote of thanks. Principal Rev Fr Lancy FErnandes SJ in his message thanked the students for opting to study in this institution. In his message he narrated the life situation of Pop Singer Michael Jackson who had his own joys and sufferings of life and invited all to make his failures a reminder and stepping stones to successful life. He stressed two things for success – decision and commitment. What we decide, when we decide and how we decide makes or breaks life. Commitment follows our decision. He ended reminding the students to aspire riches but not just the riches of money. Riches of money is one way of being rich. It’s important to be rich in values, personality and goodness.

The programme ended with the school anthem, dance and sumptuous meal. Mrs Veena D’Costa and Mr Prashanth along with the other high school staff executed the event well.
