Udupi : Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur of the Udupi diocese celebrates parish community day on Sunday, February 24, 2019 with unity and fervor.

The celebrations began with Eucharistic mass at 9.30 am which Very Rev Dr. Lawrence C D’Souza Rector of Milagres Cathedral concelebrated with Rev Fr. Herold Periera, Director of Small Community Commission, Diocese of Udupi, Rev Fr. Canute Noronha Asst. parish priest and Rev Fr. Lancy Fernandes sj, Principal of Milagres English Medium Schools, Kallianpur.

In his hard hitting homily, Fr. Herold Periera appreciated the unity of Milagres Church since more than 350 years of history and now became the Cathedral of Udupi diocese. The Kingdom of God is visible in the neighborhood. A Communion of communities living life in abundance centered on the Word of God.

Assistant parish priest Fr. Canute Noronha placed the weekly announcements at the end of mass.

There was stage programme on the occasion of parish community day held at Milagres Tri-centenary Hall. Very Rev Fr. Dr. Lawrence C D’Souza Rector of Cathedral presided over the programme. Rev Fr. Canute Noronha, Rev Fr. Lancy Fernandes sj, Dr. Nery Cornelio and Felciana Lewis Parish Pastoral Council Vice President and Secretary respectively and Mrs Rosy Baretto Convener of parish Small Community Commission were present on the dais.

Rosy Baretto welcomed the gatherings. Renita Pais Secretary of SCC placed annual report.

On the occasion prizes were distributed for winners of Milarchi Laram quiz competitions, Catholic Sabha sponsored elocution competition winners, winners of various sports games and winners of skit competition on the occasion of parish community day.

The chief guest on the occasion Rev Fr. Herold Periera briefed on the small community commission in the diocese and some of the suggestions by the people on small community in wards of diocesan parishes.

Rev Fr Dr. Lawrence C D’Souza gave his presiding address on the occasion and need unity in every families of the church as a one family and later he graced prayers on the meal.

Felciana Lewis delivered vote of thanks. Marina Lewis of Thonse and others compered the programme systematically. The fellow ship meal provided to all the participants on celebrations of parish community day.
