Udupi : The district administration has fully aware for the preparations of upcoming Lok Sabha elections as per the guidelines from the state election commission, said District Deputy Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati.

Addressing at press meet held at DC office on Thursday, March 7, DC said that to conduct fair election separate toilets, lights, drinking water facilities, fans, sufficient furniture and other necessary items to be provided in all polling booths. There is modern App introduced to get information, KPSIS information with photo and shade to be provided.

She said that highly sensitive polling booths indentified and these areas awareness on voting will be provided. SWEEP awareness will be provided, she said.

In five legislative constituencies, there will be 1111 polling booths in the district. 16525 new youth voters will cast their votes this time. There are 6584 disabled voters and in total polling booths, 255 polling booths are critical and 37 polling booths are vulnerable booths, she said.

The necessary EVM-Ballot unit and control unit to be produced and there are 1669 ballot units, 1348 control unit and 1584 VVPAT available in the district. BEL engineers are supervising the EVMs in the district, she said.

Kusumadhar Gowda has been appointed as the assistant election commissioner of Byndoor constituency, Dr S S Madhukeshwar for Kundapur, Kempe Gowda for Udupi, L Nagaraj for Kaup and Santhosh for Karkala assembly constituency appointed as assistant commissioners.

As soon as election dates declared, election model code of conduct will be in force in the district with various teams and committees are formed. They are Model of code of conduct Nodal officer, Complaints Returning committee, Vehicles Returning Committee, Training Returning Nodal officer, Election Expenses Returning committee, 92 Sector officers, Flying Squad 46, Static Surveillance Team 7, Video Surveillance team 15, Video Viewing Team 5, Assistant Expenditure Observers 7, Police Sector Officer 138, Excise Inspecting Squad 5.

She said the district Election commission has completed cent percent distribution of the epic cards. Enrolling of new voters, deletion of names will be kept till the day before the nomination. Our intention is to provide full arrangements to make friendly atmosphere in relate to upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the district, she said.
