Udupi : In relation to drinking water issue in the city, soon there will be meeting to be held with the officers of Udupi City Municipal council, said Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, Deputy Commissioner of the district.
Speaking to media persons, DC said that in relation to the stock of water in Baje dam which supplying water to the city, we had meeting last week and Udupi Municipal Officers told that there was water enough for about 15 days at the Baje dam against the Swarna river.
She said that review meeting to be held to get full details of water rationing being implemented at present in the city limit and what steps needed to be taken. The water could be supplied through GPS fitted tankers based on demand from particular area of wards. Water rationing in the city had not been implemented all over fully, since water rationing was not fully implemented, water left in the dam had decreased, she said.
To a query, in related to removing silt from dams, she said that a full-fledged operation could not be taken at all places as limited resources available. The operation would be taken up before it started raining. The officers are expected to submit complete proposals in a couple of days. We will give approval to those proposals which have been drawn up correctly, she said.
To a query in relate to sand extraction, according the law, we will have to take measures to extract the sand after finding the sand blocks. There will be meeting to be held in this regard on Thursday with the officials and other concerned, she said.
