Udupi : The state government of Karnataka announced Rs 10 lac each for the families of Suvarna Tribuja fishing boat which had been missing since December 15, 2018, said district in-charge minister Dr. Jayamala.

Speaking to media persons at press meet held at Ocean Pearl Hotel on Friday, May 10, Dr. Jayamala said that out of Rs. 10 lac amount, Rs 6 lac provided from state disaster fund and remaining 4 lac provided from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The state government announced compensation for 7 missing fishermen after Indian Navy claim that the wreckage of Suvarna Tribhuja found near Malvan in Maharastra by the personnel of the Navy’s warship ‘INS Nireekshak’ and expert divers on May 1.

Dr Jayamala said that the compensation amount will be credited respective families members after providing indemnity and other papers to Fisheries’ officials at the earliest.

She said that meeting was held at DC office with district administration officials and discussed various issues like shortage of drinking water and other. The district administration has been taken various measures to sort out drinking water problems in the Udupi city limit in particular. Even, as per the delay in rain forecast, at least for 15 days, drinking water will be enough for the people of the city. She said water is presently dispatched to 84 gram panchayats to 126 places in 141 water tankers.

She said that actions will be taken to drinking water issues to overcome shortage of water in the district. Rs 33 crore is available with the deputy commissioner to address drought related issues in the Udupi district.

To a query, even though there is severe drought situation in the state, the state chief minister and his family members going to a resort for natural treatment, she said every person has the right to maintain their health. Likewise, the chief minister and his family also have the right to maintain their health.

She neglected to give other queries from the media men due to election model code of conduct.
