ORAL CANCER AWARENESS PROGRAM HELD IN KEMMANNU

The Chosen Generation Charitable Trust (R.) & JCI, Kallianpura jointly organised “Oral Cancer Awareness program “on 28th April 2019 at St. Philomena school hall, Kemmannu.

The guest speakers, Dr. Preema, Physician, Primary Health Care, Hoode & Dr. Affan, District Program Co-ordinator, Hoode were present on the occasion. Dr. Affan, gave a detail analysis on the presence of oral cancer in the society. He cautioned on the ill effects of smoking
and chewing of tobacco products especially among the youngsters. Dr. Preema in her speech cautioned that even the ever changing social behaviour especially among the youngsters is a contributing factor to oral cancer. Dr. Preema also enlightened that symptoms of oral cancer are usually detected in the later stage while the person leads a normal life with the habits of smoking, chewing of tobacco products etc. which were cultivated at a young age.

The guest speakers concluded that any symptoms found inside the mouth should not be ignored. At the same time, there is no need to panic. If symptoms detected they encouraged people to visit the doctors who are well equipped to properly diagnose and treat such cases at a reasonable cost. Dr. Preema also answered various queries raised by the participants. Dr. Affan appreciated the efforts by the joint organisers for conducting this oral cancer awareness program, which he felt is the need of the hour.

Earlier, the program was inaugurated by JC Jayachandra Shetty, Zonal officer, Zone XV, Kallianpura. In his speech, he appreciated the information shared by the guest doctors with regard to the health which is an important aspect of human life. The Dias was also shared
by the president & vice-president of the Chosen Generation Charitable Trust President, Mr Peter Quadros & vice-president, Mrs Cynthia Quadros. Similarly, from JCI, Kallianpur, Mrs Asha Vaz, President, Mr Ramesh, Vice-president & Mr Prashanth Acharya, Sports Organiser also shared the Dias.

Various skit programs were also presented which highlighted the awareness of ill- effects of smoking, alcohol consumption and tobacco chewing. Entertainment programme in the form of dance and singing was also organised.

Mrs Abigail Anchan, Managing Trustee, Chosen Generation Charitable Trust was the Master of Ceremony for the program, Mr Manohar Veigas, Secretary Trustee, Chosen Generation Charitable Trust presented the welcome speech, while Mr Jagadeesh Kemmannu, Founder President from JCI, kallianpur gave the vote of thanks.
