Dr. Jayamala launches "Udupi Help" app to deal monsoon complaints in Udupi CMC limit

Udupi : Dr. Jayamala, District in-charge minister launched “Udupi Help” an app to address public grievances during monsoon at the deputy commissioner’s office here on Tuesday, June 11.



The app can be downloaded from Google Play-store and installed on a smart phone with android facility. The app will guide to select the language of one’s choice. After accepting the terms and conditions, the mobile phone number should be registered. A one-time password is sent to the phone then to confirm the registration. The location is identified through the GPS in phone.

Meanwhile the app user should furnish few details including name, landmark and gender to use the app. There are facilities to submit complaints in the opening page of the app. There is also a video to demonstrate how to use the app.



All types of grievances during the monsoon can be submitted online with the help of this. This app will available only for Udupi City Municipality limit. The various issues in relate to uprooted electricity poles, floods, damage to houses during lightning, overflowing manholes landslide and mosquitoes breeding in stagnant water can be submitted on line.

A app page once the user clicks the grievance button. There is an option to upload photographs and videos also. After the complaint is registered, the complainant will receive a complaint identity. Once the complaint is submitted, it will reach the IT section of the Udupi City Municipality as well as the natural calamity authority of the DC office at Manipal. The IT engineers will forward the complaints to the nodal officers appointed at different wards of the municipality. Through GPS, the team of officials will reach the place mentioned in the complaint at the earliest.


After the app launch ceremony in brief, Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, Deputy Commissioner said that the all 35 wards in Udupi CMC limits have been divided into three divisions and each division has a nodal officer to redress the grievances. Separate teams with members drawn from MESCOM, Forest Department and the CMC have been already formed.

She also said that our target is to solve any problem in relate to monsoon within six hours. The app was developed on the lines of C-Vigil app of the Election Commission of India. The app will also help people interact with the staff of the Udupi Municipality.

She also informed that presently app usage is available only Udupi CMC limit and there are plans to extend it to the entire district in the near future, she said.
