Udupi : There has been every now and then accidents occurred in the National Highways in the district. The National Highway engineers are responsible for the unscientific work. The Udupi district Panchayat passed the resolution to book criminal offences against the NHAI engineers as well as contracts for the unscientific national highways in the district.

During the 16^th Zilla Panchayat common meeting at Dr. V. S. Acharya Memorial Hall, Rajathadri on Tuesday, June 25, Pratap Hegde a member demanded that ZP should pass the resolution against the engineers and contractors of NH 66 for unscientific national highway which causes heavy accidents all the time. Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLC and leader of opposition in legislative council, Karnataka State asked the NHAI and Contractor company engineers to clear the drainage water on NH 66 at Katapady and Padubidri areas and also asked them to finish service roads at these places.

Shashikanth Padubidri said that like Sasthan toll gate, need to give the concession at Hejamady toll gate for local vehicles. Replying to NH officials said that the national highway work has completed near Sasthan toll gate areas and hence given concession for Sasthan local vehicles around 5 km. When the National Highway 66 at Hejamady areas completed, there also concession passes will be given for local within 20 km at Hejamady toll gate.

Janardhan Thonse asked the chair on precautionary measures has taken for the possible monsoon calamities at Uppoor, Kemmannu and Kallianpur, Moodutonse areas limit. He said there is no meeting conducted by the district administration on these matters. CEO Sindhu Rupesh said that meeting was held at Uppoor and remaining two places, meeting on monsoon precautionary related will be very soon.

In relation to Aadhar card, ration card and pension problems discussed during the meeting.
