Udupi : Even there was support from the people for BJP, prior to legislative election and with 105 highest members of legislative assembly, it was not possible to form the government in the state. Due to internal conflict amongst the Congress MLAs, the coalition government led by H D Kumaraswamy failed to run the administration smoothly, said Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, Udupi district Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President.

Speaking to media persons during media conference at BJP District office at Kadiyali near here on Wednesday, July 31, Mattar Rathnakar Hegde said that prior to legislative assembly election, both the JD(S) and Congress was fight and blaming for each other. But in order to distance BJP to form the government even though highest members in the legislative assembly of the BJP, with the help of 37 MLAs of JD(S), H D Kumaraswamy formed the government only for 14 months.

Since 14 months there was internal fighting among Congress legislative assembly members and differences among the JDS legislative assembly members, the administration of the state completely collapsed. Both the parties of the coalition government in the state forgot the election manifesto offered to the people of the state. In order to save the power in the state, both the parties forgot the people and hence people of the state tired with the government. They lost the government due to internal fighting amongst the coalition members, he said.

The dream of the people at last 14 months later fulfilled. Once again the development process of the state began with taken over BJP led by chief minister B S. Yuddyurappa, he said.

Chief Minister Yeddyurappa within hours has announced Rs 4,000 financial assistance to the farmers under Modi’s Kisan Samman Scheme. Meanwhile loan of weaver’s completely waived and weavers’ demands since several years fulfilled, Mattar said.

B S Yeddyrappa also waived the loans of fishermen, which took from credit cooperatives and commercial banks. Due to this, 23,507 fishermen will get relief from Rs 60.584 crore of loans. I must congratulate chief minister B S Yedduprappa that since several years balance of loan by fishermen waived. The previous government just declaring the return off farmers’ loan, but failed to introduce waive of farm loan, he said.

While former chief minister Siddaramaih was in power, declared most complicated celebration of Tipu Jayanti and started to celebrate every year. The celebrating the Tipu Jayanti was led to communal conflict and disturbed the communal harmony in the state. In order to keep peace among the society, chief minister cancelled the celebration of Tipu Jayanti. The decision of the Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa is proper and perfect, he said.

Along with coastal MLAs and MP, we met chief minister after he won the vote in the house. We all five MLAs and one MLC requested the CM to provide proper preference in state cabinet, he said.

Since 5-6 years people of coastal region are facing severe sand crisis and it has hit the economic system very badly especially in Udupi district. In this regard Raghupathy Bhat Udupi MLA and Sunil Kumar Karkala MLA met chief minister and handed over memorandum to grant permission for sand extraction. 

Meanwhile, there is acute shortage of drinking water in the district. District BJP will pressurize the government the Varahi water will definitely flow to Udupi at the earliest. The government should give suitable positions to all the five MLAs of the district and all have the eligibility and capacity to take the charge based on senior decision which will help the district development, he said.

We would congratulate on behalf of district BJP to the newly appointed speaker of legislative assembly, Vishweswara Hegde Kageri.

Rathnakar Hegde said that the government should declare a government holiday on the occasion of Krishnashtami and Vitlapindi.

Mattar also said that Triple Talaq bill was passed by both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha to prevent an end of the unlawful practice in the Muslim community. The bill will help for the security to the married Muslim women. All the Muslim people should appreciate the decision to bring the bill against Triple Talaq custom of Muslims in the country. It has the historical decision that both the houses passed the bill, he said.

The BJP membership drive started on July 6 and there has been very good response all over the district. There are 26 Shakti Kendras and 38 Maha Shakti Kendras in the district. More than 75,000 people have voluntarily registered as members. We are giving importance on colleges to enroll the students in BJP. We have reach our target to get 2,00,000 members.
