Assault and Robbery case near Manipal, Police arrests five

Udupi : Manipal Police arrested five miscreants on August 11, who had allegedly assaulted and robbed Moodusagri resident.
As per the police release to the media, on August 9 around 1.15 pm afternoon, a resident of Moodusagri who on way to his residence at Manipal by his bike, a gang of five waylaid Narasimha Nayak and hit his leg with a wooden stick and then hit his head with his own helmet.
The miscreants managed to rob Narasimha Nayak with gold chain worth Rs 70,000, mobile phone worth Rs 29,000 and a purse that had ATM card, Aadhar card, Voter ID and Rs 31,000 cash. In this regard, Narasimha Nayak filed a case in Manipal police station.
Under the guidance from district Superintendent of Police Nisha James, Additional Superintendent of Police Kumar Chandra, DySP Udupi division T R Jaishankar five persons arrested and interrogated them. Police have recovered a bike and Dio scooter used for robbery, Vivo mobile and documents of the complainant Nayak from the accused.
The arrested persons are Athish D’Silva (22), son of Peter D’Silva, Vinobha Nagar, Katpady, Premnath (19), resident of Kurkal, Katpady, Yogish (19) a resident of Garadimajalu, Kodavoor, Tenkanidiyoor village and Sandesh (18) resident of Arroor Village, Brahmavar.
Police said that arrested Athish D’Silva, Sandesh and a minor boy have reportedly confessed another crime on sexually harassing a female student. A complaint on the same was registered in Manipal Police station.
The operation conducted by Manipal Police Station SI in-charge Sampat Kumar, ASI Sridhar Nambiar, ASI Umesh Jogi, Diwakar Sharma, staff Abdul Razak, Prasanna Kumar, Thomson, Praveen, Santhosh, Adarsh, Jeep driver Suresh Naik and Sudeep Sathish of Manipal police station.
