Udupi: The rainfall in the district has so far exceeded 4100 mm and the current rainfall of 4400 mm is the best paddy crop in the district, Agriculture Department officials said.

This was disclosed at a monthly KDP meeting held on Thursday, September 19 at the Zilla panchayat hall presided over by the president of the ZP, Dinakar Babu.

Joint Director of Agriculture Department Kempegowda informed that this time of year the rainfall in the district is supplemented with paddy crop, paddy harvest is good in 35470 hectares, there is no shortage of fertilizer in the district and there is sufficient seed stock for drought crop.

There are about 500 mobile towers, including BSNL, in the jurisdiction of the Gram Panchayats. President Dinakar Babu, who proposed to levy a fixed tax from all the towers, suggested that the tax collection of gram panchayats be recorded through a five-tier software.

A MESCOM official informed the meeting that 1,050 pump sets have been supplied with electricity in the district and 1,400 households have been provided electricity under the auspicious scheme.

The President said that the work on the drinking water project should be completed within the stipulated time and the completion of the quarry works as soon as possible and the accident barrier along the Belman National Highway would be given priority.

DDPI Seshayasan Karinja informed that the uniform and books were distributed to the school children in the district and the shoe purchase and distribution process was in progress through the SDMC.

Fisheries Department Deputy Director Pasherwanath informed that the diesel subsidy for the fishermen’s August May comes and will be credited to the beneficiaries account within 10 days.

Bhuvaneswari, deputy director of the Horticulture Department, told reporters that 13,25,000 fruit saplings were targeted for distribution, out of which 10,24,000 were distributed and achieved 77% growth.

Forest Department officials informed that 100 per cent of the planting has been achieved and the selection of beneficiaries at taluk level has been achieved.

District RCH Officer Dr MG Rama told the gathering that 96 per cent of the pentavalent and polio vaccines have been achieved under the vaccine program in the district and 97 per cent in the BCG and measles vaccine.

The 16th round vaccine for livestock will be started to prevent foot disease, said Deputy Director Dr. Sarvotham Udupa.
