Udupi: Plastic bans will be enforced strictly after October 2, including all urban local bodies and gram panchayats in the district. District Collector Jagdish has warned that proper action will be taken against everyone including the public who use banned plastic.

He was speaking at a press conference in Udupi Municipal Council on Thursday, September 26, DC said that awareness of plastic bans will be raised in the district from September 27 to October 2, during which any shop, wholesaler, retailer will be seized with plastic and the Flex and Banners will be cleared and a home visit will be raised. If plastics are found after October 2, the DC said the prohibition will be implemented against such people.

The Central Government has also notified the Plastic Prohibition and has set up a Cleanup Service, a comprehensive Cleanup Program will be implemented across the district on October 2 against Plastics Manufacturers, Suppliers, Procurers, Shippers, Sales and Distributors. Action will be taken, whatever the use of plastic covers like banners is forbidden by the public, DC said.

DC will also take action against Flex printers, installers, and merchants who use plastic for manufacture of bouquets. Trade violations of the manufacturers, sellers, collectors and sellers of such plastic material will be canceled if the first violation is violated by the 1000, 2nd time violation, 2000 and 3rd violation, and such vehicle owners and vehicle will also be sued if the plastic item is taken from elsewhere.

He also directed the admissions of posters and gram panchayats across the district only in the prescribed area and the admission of mandatory clothing or eco-friendly advertisements with the appropriate permission of the concerned persons and not to install any advertisement on the National Highway.
