Udupi : Fathima ward Kakkunje of Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur celebrated annual Ward feast with devotion on Sunday, October 27, 2019.

The thanksgiving mass offered for their ward patron ‘Our Lady of Fathima’ at Milagres Cathedral in 8am mass which was Holy Eucharist mass celebrated by Rev Fr. Lancy Fernandes, SJ, Principal of Milagres English Medium Schools. Large number of faithful of Kakkunje ward participated during the mass with large number of offerings. Fr. Lancy Fernandes sj in his homily pointed out the day’s liturgy on Holy Bible.

After the mass, all ward faithful gathered in front of the statue of ‘Our Lady of Fathima’ located at portico of the Cathedral and offered prayers.

The get together of ward people held at Flavy Dias house at Kakkunje from 5pm. The evening ceremony of the ward feast began with traditional prayers since several decades with Rosary. One of the tradition and specialty during celebration of ward fest that all the people were joining united to proclaim Rosary and procedure of praising with Litaniae Sanctorum. All the participants putting their hands up and praying for ward people, sick, deceased and other causes. We never see such traditional devotion from the ward people with unity and gaiety.

Very Rev Fr. Dr. Lawrence C D’Souza Rector of Milagres Cathedral and assistant parish priest Rev Fr. Canute Noronha, Rose Convent superior Sr. Agnes, Ward head and Gurkarn Sylvia Lewis, Vice president of parish pastoral council Dr. Nery Cornelio and secretary Felciana Lewis, Ward representative Gilbert Cornelio were present on the dais.

Various extraordinary games were conducted by Joyce Dsa Pinto for all categories. Prized were distributed by the guests on the dais.

Some of the personalities of ward were honoured for their outstanding achievements in education and other. Meanwhile very senior citizens’ present during the celebration were honored.

Dr. Nery Cornelio one of the ward member of the Kakkunje ward placed the history of ward and their people’s active participation in the ward activities and church also.

Fr. Lawrence C D’Souza and Fr. Canute Noronha conveyed the fest wishes to all ward faithful and appreciated their active participation during the church activities and other for good. They appreciated the unity of the ward people and pointed out that diocesan pastoral building will be coming up in the Kakkunje ward.

Earlier ward gurkarn Sylvia Lewis welcomed the gatherings and host Felcy Dias proposed vote of thanks. Walter Cyril Pinto compered the evening celebration with grand manner. Sr. Agnes graced prayers on the dinner meal.
