Udupi : District Rajeev Gandhi Panchayat Raj Sanghaton will organize the valedictory programme of 150^th anniversary of Mahatama Gandhiji and  the inauguration of the Gandhi Kuteera house  built for a poor Dalit woman will be held on November 6.

Addressing a press meet at Udupi Press Club here on Saturday, November 2, Ashok Kumar Kodavoor President of Udupi district Congress Committee said that under the district Rajeev Gandhi Panchayat Sanghaton several programmes has been taken in relation to the celebrations of 150^th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Last February, State Congress Committee President Eshwar Kandre inaugurated the programme with padayatra in Bolje of Udyavara. Since then several programmes were held on account of 150^th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, he said.

Dinesh Gundurao (President KPCC), Siddaramaiah (Leader of the Opposition), Oscar Fernandes Rajya Sabha member, Siddharamaiaha Oppostion leader in the legislative assembly, Ramesh Kumar former speaker of legislative assembly, D. R. Patil national member of Rajeev Gandhi Panchayat Raj Sanghton, .Narayana Swamy, Honorable VY Rogopade, Former MP of BL Shankar, Vishnu Nathan (AICC Secretary and In charge of this section). M Sandeep (AICC Chairperson) Rangaswamy (State Secretary RGPRS) Vijay Singh (Member of Parliament) Dr Pushpa Amarnath President of state mahila Congress, former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, former MLAs Gopala Poojary, U R Sabhapathy and other will present.

On November 6, hand over a newly built house for a Dalit woman which was built near Udayavar’s Balayipad – Korangrapadi. Meanwhile, a Dalit woman has also been given Rs. 1 lakh. He said the district-level convention, which includes members of the Gram Panchayat and the last time they lost the election, would be held in the town hall from 11am.

Speaking on the occasion, Roshani Oliveira, District Coordinator of the District RGPRS, said that the Central Coordinator of the Organization, Jayanthi Natarajan, had invited Gandhiji’s 150th anniversary celebrations to be held for one year in which 7 applications came from 10 blocks and decided to build a house for 2 needy families.
