Print Udupi: The University of Mangalore Department of Physical Education and Government First Class College and Postgraduate Studies Center, Tenkanidiyoor, near here are jointly sponsored by the South Zone Men’s Kabaddi Tournament will be held from June 11 to 14 at the Government Stadium of the Government First Grade College and Post Graduate Studies Center, College Stadium, Tenkanidiyoor.
Addressing a press meet at Udupi Press Club Dr. Kishore Kumar C K, Director, Physical Education Department, Mangalore University and Organizing Secretary said on Saturday, December 7, that the event will be inaugurated by Minister of State for Home and Cooperation, Basavaraja Bommai, in charge of the State Housing and Cooperation and Udupi District in charge minister. Local MLA Raghupathi Bhat will preside over the inaugural programme. The inauguration will held at 6 pm on 11th December. The Kabbadi play competition will be held from 7 am on that day.
He said that more than 100 South Zone Universities are registered to take part the competition.
The closing ceremony of the Kabaddi tournament was held on 14th December at 6 am. Udupi-Chikkamagalur MP Shobha Karandlaje will be the chief guest at the event. Former district incharge minister Pramod Madhwaraj, Dr. N. B. Vijaya Ballal, Dr. Mohan Alva, Yashpal Suvarna, Prop A M Khan Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University and others will participate.
Prof. Balakrisha S Hegde, Principal of Government First Grade College Tenkanidiyoor Working President, Dr. Ramachandra Patkar Physical Education Teacher and Tournament Coordinator, Anand P Suvarna, College Development Committee member and others were present in the press meet.
