Print Udupi : Sri Vishvesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math passed away on Sunday, December 29 at the Pejawar Math. The Pejawar Math announced death at 9.20am.
Pejawar Sri Vishvesha Theertha Swamiji was admitted to Kasturba Hospital Manipal with complaints of difficulty in breathing on December 20,
He was born in 1931 at Ramakunja to a Shivalli Madhawa Brahmin family. He was ordained Sanyasa at the age of 8 years in 1938. His pre-Sanyasa name was Venkatrama. His vidya guru was Sri Vidyamanya Theertha Swamiji of Bhandarkeri Math and Palimaar Math also. Sri Vishvesha Theertha Swamiji appointed Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji as his successor of Pejawar Math.
Sri Vishvesha Theertha Swamiji was the 32nd in the lineage of Pejawar Math from Sri Adhokshaja Theertha Swami who was one of the direct disciples of Sri Madhawacharya.
Sri Vishvesha Theertha Swami was honorary president of Vishwa Tulu Sammelana. He had established Poornaprajna Vidyapeetha in Bengaluru which has completed over 63 years. He also organized All India Madhva Conference in Udupi during his first Paryaya period in 1954. He has completed five Paryaya and only one to complete five Paryayas after Sri Vadiraja Swamiji of Sodhe Math. He was started his fifth Paryaya in January 18, 2016 and completed it in on January 18, 2018.
