Udupi : The way the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM)s were functioning gave a lot of room for suspicion. But there was not enough debate on this subject, said Waman Meshram, National Convener of Bahujan Kranti Morcha.

Addressing at the Kashmir to Kanyakumari nationwide Parivarthan Yatra public meeting organized by the morcha at Town Hall here on Tuesday, February 4, he said BJP is only carrying forward what the Congress had started in the country. Both Congress and BJP are mother of tampering EVM machines to come to power. Not only that BJP and Congress the mother of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens ( NRC ) and National Population Register (NPR) and EVM machines, he alleged.

Meshram  said that Congress made use of EVM machines to come to power and hence Dr Subramanyam Swami of BJP in 2013 filed a petition in Supreme Court to stop using of EVMs in the election. Congress and BJP made a secret arrangement and Congress was allowed BJP to win elections in 2014 and in 2019 with huge majority, he said.

Meshram alleged that both Congress and BJP were equally responsible for the problems being faced by minorities, Dalits and Adivasis over the CAA, NRC and NPR. BJP and Congress were like brothers as far as their policies were concerned. It was during the period of Congress rule that the NPR process had begun. The BJP was only carrying forward what the Congress started, he said.

He said that it was impossible for the weaker sections of society to keep documents such as birth certificates ready with them. What should people in rural areas that were born before 1969 do and many they did not even know the dates that they were born on.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah outwardly appear to be implementing the CAA, NPR and NRC. But the real mover behind these black laws is Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). These laws were discriminatory one. In the real sense, the BJP government has actually looking forward to discriminate SC and STs by placing it on the shoulders of the Muslims. Obliviously, the real target of the CAA, NPR and NRC is the mool niviasi (original inhabitants) of the country.
