Udupi : District bus service will start from Wednesday, May 13, as per the demand of the people, Udupi District Collector G Jagdeesh said.

He informed the people of the district via video message that some government and private buses will be running from Wednesday. No more than 50 passengers can be accommodated on the bus by the bus operators and drivers. A case will be filed if more passengers are taken than scheduled.

He said that it is the duty of the passenger to maintain social distance during the bus journey and the passengers must wear the mask. Also, if the mask hangs on the head, stern action will be taken. He said that the public must comply with all the rules of the government which are mandatory for passengers and bus operators.

The Government of Karnataka, under the direction of the present Chief Secretary, has opened a Government Department and directed all Heads of Government Departments and staff to attend the office and carry out their daily work.

In order to renew the bus services in the district, Unit Manager, KSRTC Udupi, Bharati Motors, Udupi have proposed a proposal to Regional Transport Officer to resume bus services at several routes in the district level.

Requests are being made to arrange a bus to come to the offices of the officers / staff of various departments in the district. In the wake of requests from the public for the office of the Regional Transport Officer, Udupi, KSRTC / private buses are allowed to travel from 7 am to 7 pm in order to facilitate public transportation.

4 buses from Udupi to Kundapur, 1 to Karkala, 3 to Kapu Mallar, 2 to Manipal, 2 to Barkur-Siddapur, 1 to Alevur, 1 to Malpe, 1 to Hoode, 2 to Brahmavara and 2 to Kundapura to Byndoor.

The following conditions are permissible for the bus to travel :

Unit Manager KSRTC Udupi has requested permission to travel on the routes which they are requested. As per the permit (all conditions) permit issued by private bus operators, the route and schedule can carry only 50 per cent of the buses’ seating capacity, with no standing passenger allowed. It can be operated in the morning from 7 am to 7 pm. Only the ticket price fixed by the Regional Transport Authority should be provided, and the full details of the private buses traveling should be provided by the regional transport office attire. Before the start of the day’s traffic, buses must be sanitized after each trip and at the end of the day’s traffic. Ensuring that passengers on buses are required to wear masks and maintain public distance, Bus crews must use masks, gouges and sanitizers,

Inter-district buses have been banned for buses, traveling only in Udupi district. District Collector G. Jagdeesh has ordered that the directions of the Check Post Officers be complied with in the borders of Udupi district.
