Print Udupi : Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur near here distributed food kits to 130 families of Christian and Non-Christians on Saturday, May 16.
Speaking to the gathering, Very Rev Dr. Fr. Lawrence C D’Souza, Rector of Milagres Cathedral and Dean of Kallianpur Deanery said that plenty of poor people are struggling, and are bearing the brunt of lockdown due to COVIND 19 as they have been left with no means of earning. It would be our duty to help the poor in difficult times. Jesus Christ said love your people who are in need. It is the right time to love poor people with providing some necessary food items to the needy poor people in our parish level to both the Christians and non-Christians as well. He thanked all who supported this precious initiative.
Smt Pushpa Kotian President of Kallianpur Grama Panchayat distributed the food kit and appreciated the initiative of the church.
Earlier, Jeffrey Dais Vice President of Milagres Cathedral Parish Council spoke introductory few words and welcomed the gathering. Rev Fr. Canute Noronha Assistant parish priest and convener of the initiative was present. Felciana Lewis Secretary of parish pastoral council delivered vote of thanks. Food kits were distributed to the door of the people by the gurkars of the Cathedral. Earlier weeks, two times food kits were distributed to the needy families of the Cathedral.
Parish Pastoral council members and representatives, ICYM members, SVP members and others were present during the token distribution of food kits.
